The Lions have lost one of their most important offensive players for the season.

Center Frank Ragnow will have toe surgery and miss the rest of the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Ragnow suffered the injury in Week Four, and although he missed Week Five, the Lions had initially hoped he could return this season. Unfortunately, further tests showed he’ll need season-ending surgery.

The Lions signed Ragnow to a four-year, $54 million extension this year, making him the highest-paid center in the NFL. Ragnow is one of the Lions’ team captains and a player they expected to be a major part of their team for years to come, but now they’ll need to wait until 2022 to see him back on the field.

He got paid before he got hurt

Yes, as opposed to all other professional athletes that get hurt during a game when they are not under contract. 🙄

  3. It becomes more and more difficult to NOT beleive in curses as a Lions fan. If there is a God, its safe to say he doesnt wear honolulu blue and silver.

  4. Turf Toe used to be a common injury. It can easily knock guys out of the lineup for a month. It makes it excruciatingly painful to walk, much less play football.

  5. Sigh… the season is already a wash. A feeling Lions fans are far too familiar with this early in the season.

  6. With the 30th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select QB Malik Willis, QB Liberty.
