DeSean Jackson says he’s joining the Raiders

The Raiders offense was in need of a deep threat in Sunday’s loss to the Giants and it looks like DeSean Jackson is going to fill that role.

Jackson told Josina Anderson that he is joining the Raiders. The Rams released Jackson after failing to find a trading partner before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

The Raiders lost 23-16 in their first game since cutting wide receiver Henry Ruggs, who was arrested for felony DUI after a car crash in Las Vegas that killed a woman in the other car early on Tuesday morning. That led to speculation that they would pursue Jackson or Odell Beckham to bolster their offense and it appears those thoughts were on the mark.

Jackson had eight catches for 221 yards and a touchdown for the Rams.

  1. This doesn’t really move the needle for me, but after today anything has to be an improvement.

  2. Makes sense on paper in terms of skill set and team need, but at this point in his career DJax is a guy who you can’t really count on to stay healthy. It’s a bonus if he’s available on game day.

They still need more help at WR. There’s $3.1m in cap space available for 8 weeks for DJax and *whoever* else might be available.

  3. Raiders have had a horrific season. Everything that could go wrong has. Not a fan but feel for the Raider Nation.

Have him call Randy Moss about going to the raiders organization…

Because 1 persons opinion is all that matters? Let’s be honest too that if were going to take only 1 persons opinion and blindly follow it Randy Moss wouldnt be on the list far less at the top of it.

  5. Raiders don’t need him. They had receivers wide open all day. Carr has been pretty accurate all season. For whatever reason, he was way off target today. Badly underthrowing or overthrowing guys all day. Wasn’t due to lack of WR talent. And even if they do need a WR, Jackson wouldn’t be welcome. They’re dealing with issues due to lack of maturity, so the last thing they need in the locker room is a guy like Jackson. Mayock didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. He wouldn’t touch this guy with a ten foot pole.

  6. Next week’s headline: DeSean Jackson pulls hamstring, Raiders placing him on IR.

  7. So let me get this straight the Raiders fire Gruden for tasteless emails by sign Jackson who did the same thing !

  8. He’ll be hurt fairly soon if he gets more snaps than the Rams were giving him. Not sure why he wanted to leave a SB contender to go to a fringe playoff contender. I realize players have egos and a competitive drive but he is years past his prime. At that point I’d want the chance to win a championship.

  9. Carr today was weak. Played scared, stared down receivers, overthrew guys. We were same record last year when we dropped finished 2 and 6. Could be the same. Defense is better though.

Sure buddy. Because Moss’s opinion about the Raiders, who are now under different ownership, with different coaches, a different QB, in a completely different city even with no state tax and brand new facilities all around, is EXACTLY what Jackson should base all his decisions on!

Yes our D is better overall. Specifically because of the pass rush helping everything else look better. But our coverage is still bad. When that rush doesn’t get close, we get CARVED UP. All they have to do is stay away from Hayward. We desperately need Mullen back.

Which is why our point differential at the mid way point is only +7. Our offense needs to put up 30+ points for us to win, and Carr is just not a prolific QB, never has been. In the last 5 seasons, his highest scoring year was 2020 with only 27 TD passes.

And that’s because, as he proved yesterday, Carr consistently fails to throw TD passes in the red zone. We blew TWO opportunities from the Giants’ 7 yard line. TWO series got us to the 7, and we came away with only 3 points to show for it. One FG, one missed FG.

That’s just a pair of examples in one game, you can check the rest of our games this season and count them up. This isn’t an isolated “he just had a bad game” kind of thing. And YOU CANNOT BE A CONTENDER IF YOU CAN’T CONVERT IN THE RED ZONE.

  12. Raiders will make the playoffs this season, I think they’re more than capable of going at least 500 the rest of the season. They’ll get it turned around !!!
