Ben Roethlisberger is out for Sunday with COVID

The Steelers will have to try to win their fifth game in a row without their starting quarterback.

According to Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. He’s out for Sunday’s game against the Lions.

Roethlisberger becomes the second high-profile quarterback to miss a game this month due to COVID. If he’s vaccinated, he’ll be able to return after generating a pair of negative tests at least 24 hours apart. If  he’s not vaccinated, he’ll miss at least 10 days.

Last week, Roethlisberger said he’s vaccinated. (Then again, so did Aaron Rodgers.) If Roethlisberger truly is vaccinated, the outcome suggests that he developed symptoms and was tested.

The backup in Pittsburgh is Mason Rudolph. He’ll likely get the eleventh-hour start against the winless Lions.

  1. It’s the Lions, the whole roster could self isolate, and Shane Falco could still beat the Lions with a team of plumbers and delivery drivers

  2. Maybe, just maybe the Lions will get their win!! This might be their best remaining chance this season, especially coming off a bye week.

  3. After what we have seen the past week, do not assume any team will win just because of the records. The last week proves “Any Given Sunday” is true.

  4. Could work out for the Steelers, you give old Ben a week off and they should still be able to beat the Lions

  5. Covid and Covid rules are here to stay, regardless of your vaccination status….this is the new NFL!

I think you need a hobby bro. Remember the pats lost to the dolphins. At home. Case closed. Stay classy. I won’t respond to you anymore on this board. You’re not supposed to be here anyway.

    Go Falcooooo!!

  8. Maybe they shouldn’t call these “breakthrough” cases if thousands of them happen every day…. But, there I go using logic again, when will I stop…

Hmmmm another VACCINATED Person tests positive.

    Fools>>>>>>>>>>

    Doctor Rogan, I presume?

  11. So the “Vaccine” works? Then why are these players getting the virus? I’m puzzled to this, as when I was vaccinated for MMR I never aquired those diseases. THis is troubling.

but he won’t be going to the hospital and having a tube shoved down his throat
    the vaccine works

  13. Mason…..pleeeeeease, have a great game! Honestly, I’m curious how he does in Matt Canada’s offense.

  14. It’s funny how the antivaxers pretend to be shocked when a vaccinated person tests positive. Nobody, not one person ever, said the vaccine was 100% effective…

  15. If the Steelers get the same ref crew as last week…..they can’t lose. A few posturing calls , low block calls on a missed block and a few missed roughing on the Lions will win it for the Steelers.

Covid is definitely here to stay. Covid rules will be gone next year and it will be treated as influenza has always been treated.

Unvaxxed don’t go to the hospital. We get our early TREATMENT and after 3,4 days are better and now have natural immunity. I know we’re not supposed to get treatment, just get the jab… sorry I will not participate

Rodgers didn’t have a tube shoved down his throat…but hey, whatever fits the narrative, right?

  21. He can’t be vaccinated as the vaccine is so effective. No one vaccinated can get Covid, right!???

  22. So he is going to miss a game? Better get out those pitchforks and torches people. Another high profile QB is about to miss ONE game due to the virus. Any talk of him spreading the virus? He didn’t have to wear a mask so he could’ve been freely spreading it like Rodgers. Speaking of Rodgers seems like his time bed ridden with a tube down his throat was pretty short lived huh?

  23. I can only shake my head with the anti vaxxers cherry picking stats.
But.. this is a football forum – even though Pit isn’t a good team, I think they should still win.

  24. False false false false Mike you are a lawyer and Rodgers never said he was vaccinated. Semantics matter in the court of public opinion

I guess the vikings Dakota Dozier did not get the memo since he was rushed to the ER 3 days ago even though hes fully vaxxed and no one has heard from him since.

    nothing is 100%, ever
91% of those hospitalized with covid are/were unvaccinated
But go ahead and take your chances, what do I care…

It would seem that the reason he tested positive was because Someone else wasn’t vaccinated.

    Fool.

  29. I’d be fine with the shot if they didn’t call it a vaccine. Vaccine by definition provided immunity. This not a vaccine, it’s basically a immune system booster. Just facts and logic.

  30. This whole GD thing is illogical. If he’s vaccinated and if the vaccines work why test and why kiss a game?

  31. For the most part, these are the healthiest young people on the planet. The chance of one of them requiring hospitalization for COVID is about .0001%. Let the players with health issues opt out.

  32. The percentage of people in the hospital being vaccinated might have something to do with there being more vaccinated people in the population as time goes on but hey i’m just some guy on the internet what do I know
