The Browns’ best defensive player was not happy with the defensive play calling on Sunday. On Monday, the Browns’ head coach tried to smooth things over.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett said after Sunday’s loss to the Patriots that “We never had a chance just because we didn’t make any adjustments on the sideline or when we had time to.”

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said today that he spoke privately with Garrett, understands Garrett’s “frustration,” but will keep the specifics of their conversation private.

Stefanski acknowledged that the Browns didn’t have a good enough plan. That was clear to anyone who saw the Patriots’ 45-7 win.

  1. The D-coordinator got canned from the previous team for a reason. Though this current coaching staff is much better then the many previous regimes it is still like a JV coaching staff when it comes to capability.

  2. Some goober on local sports talk radio called in to say ‘I think Kevin can scheme this one’

I almost called in to repudiate the guy, but we have our answer. Stefanski is a very good coach, but Bill Belichick is the greatest of all time. No team gets a coaching advantage on that guy.

  3. Myles Garret is happy as long as he gets his sack, don’t let him fool you. Go watch his tape against the run and tell me he is the best defensive player in the NFL.

  4. Wynn dominated him. He is embarrassed.

Man, people just hate getting blasted by the Patriots.

  5. Kevin might have talked privately but Garrett didn’t.

The Patriots continually ran right at Garrett with success?

  6. When he and the defense plays well, it’s “me, me, me, me”. When they gets beat like this, “it’s the play calling”

  7. He’s right, ive been saying it for a long time, the D-coordinator must go !!! (he called 2 good games this year) not good enough in my book

  8. I got a great deal of amusement watching N’Keal Harry absolutely body Garrett on about half a dozen plays. One of them the chip was so good he decleated Garett, the rest he just pushed him right out of the play. That has to be somewhat embarrassing when you are considered a DE, DPOY candidate, and a WR owns you repeatedly on run plays

  9. The browns D coordinator is crap. He calls defenses according to the game being played in his head, not on the field. I don’t know what he is watching, but the D is very good or it’s very bad. We need to get rid of him and Mayfield. The two biggest reasons why we are underperforming.

  10. Did someone actually compliment a chip block? Nobody can block Garrett one on one. NOBODY. The issue is Clowmey was a no show again. He should have had a field day.
