Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary suffered a hyperextended elbow in Green Bay’s victory over Seattle on Sunday. But the 2019 first-round pick doesn’t plan to be sidelined by the injury.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Gary will use a brace on the hyperextended elbow to see if he can play through it for the Packers’ Week 11 matchup against the Vikings. But Gary also has an MRI scheduled for Tuesday to verify that course of action.

Gary has started all 10 of Green Bay’s games this year, recording 31 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, 19 quarterback hits, and a forced fumble. He’s been on the field for 69 percent of the Packers’ defensive snaps.

The 12th overall pick of the 2019 draft, Gary has a sack in each of the last two games and 4.0 in Green Bay’s last four contests. He’s recorded 12.5 sacks in his career.

  1. GM Gutekunst has taken a lot of heat for picks like Gary and Dillon. He has quietly built one of the NFL’s deepest rosters.

  2. Gruesome injury on Sunday that leaves me shocked that Rashan possibly wants to give it a go this week.
Hopefully his MRI allows him to pursue this course of action.

Injuries have really taken a toll this year on this team.
The kind of injuries that derail many teams.
It’s been a true test of this roster’s quality of depth that has maintained their winning edge.
    And this train keeps moving.

  3. One of the NFL’s deepest rosters huh — wonder why they’re trying to sign or signing recently released washed up WRs and LBs every week? The roster appears deep because of one guy.

  4. I have to admit that during his rookie year all I could see was bust. Now he looks like a beast to be reckoned with.

  5. Yeah, they’re signing washed up WRs and LBs every week like Campbell and Cobb . . . oh wait

  6. I think he should rest up this week instead of playing against the hapless Vikings. We won’t really need him for this one.

  7. If they weren’t playing the Vikings next he would sit out but unlike the fans he knows this is their biggest rivalry

    *******
Any GM worth his salt will always try and improve the back end of their roster, and if you can add some overall talent to a position group, especially on the cheap, why wouldn’t you pursue it?
NFL football is a marathon, and as the season rolls on it becomes easier to discern the deep rosters over the superficial ones.

As for the Packers being a one guy deep roster, as you claim, why didn’t the Detroit Lions, at the very least, dominate the NFC North with an exceptional QB like Matt Stafford over the years?
Or, better yet, how has Aaron Rodgers contributed to the NFL’s #3 ranked Defense this season?
    I’ll wait.

  9. Gute was highly criticized for drafting him, especially after paying the Smith LBs that very free agency. Many talked, or wrote about how it was a wasted pick, on a player that was “too raw” and “couldn’t play in the NFL, because of poor production in college”

As soon as anything is percieved OR goes slightly wrong in GB so many people are quick to bash the GM and coach, whether its an upset QB in the off-season a blowout loss the opening week, or a marginal performance by a QB that was traded up for. They are doing great drafting and developing talent, and its translating to winning games, and right the defense is MASSIVELY imrporved from when Gute first got hired.

  10. I think the Bears are looked on as the Pack’s chief rival. At least they bring a little championship history to the table.
