Derek Carr: Offensive problems start with me and end with me

The Raiders slumped to their third straight loss on Sunday and the offense remains a major problem in Las Vegas.

Quarterback Derek Carr turned the ball over twice in the 32-13 loss to the Bengals, which gives him six in the last three weeks, and the Raiders failed to gain 300 yards of offense for the second straight week. They’ve been outscored 96-43 over the span and Carr pointed the finger at himself while speaking to reporters after the game.

“I’ve just got to be better for us. . . . Starts with me and ends with me. We’re out out of sync and not good enough on third down and red zone and it’s my fault,” Carr said, via Anthony Galaviz of the Fresno Bee.

Carr said this week that he is confident the team will avoid the poor second half play that sank their last two seasons. He’ll have a harder time selling others on that opinion after Sunday’s performance dropped them to 5-5 on the season.

  1. I’f say the problems started after Gruden was stopped from helping you. They’ll end when you get traded in the off-season.

  2. Carr stinks and the Raiders will NEVER make the playoffs with him at QB. Olsen is also a turd, 3rd and 8 and you run the ball. Wow it least we have basketball. Go Warriors!!!

  3. 3 things you can count on the raiders to do.
    1) get a penalty after a 3rd down stop on defense
    2) offensive penalty when they get in the red zone
    3) 3rd quarter offensive turnover.

The team is undisciplined and Derek Carr stinks he’s constantly making mistakes a veteran qb should not do.

  4. Mr Carr, if you are sure it starts with you and ends with you maybe YOU should take a back seat and support Marietta !!!

  5. Carr is a solid QB. The Raiders are undisciplined…every time they got a stop, there was a penalty. The only receiving threat is Waller. Play calling stinks. The easiest thing to point at is the QB…it’s also not the biggest issue.

  6. This is the strangest dynamic. Third (maybe fourth?) season in a row where this team starts strong, looks great to start the season, then totally tanks and looks like total crap during the second half. Carr was in the MVP conversation through the first several weeks, but now he and the offense look like total garbage. Again! WTH is going on with this team?? How do you go from great to crap overnight, over and over again every year?? Well we know the interim coach label is only being removed with a firing. Time to start over, yet again. So sick of this crappy team.

  7. Anyone else watch the post game pressers? Is it just me or does Bisaccia have zero fire in him? He surely doesn’t seem like a guy who cares about getting the job full time. He just rattles off the obvious – we saw the game Rich, we know what happened. How about telling us WHY it happened and why your team sucks for the last three games?? He is not head coach material.

And after seeing Carr talk, I’m convinced this team has checked out. They’re done. Coaches and players. They are going through the motions the rest of the season. No one believes in each other, no one cares. I don’t think this team is going to win another game all season, seriously. They’ve given up. That sucks.

  8. Our Carr is a lemon….let Marcus start, see what he is got,, he deserves a 2nd chance in his carrer whether with the Raiders or another team Carr looks lost out there, time to rebuild, new coach new GM new front office next year,Carr is inconsistent, no one, and I mean no one elite QB has 3 bad games in a row, so long Carr, you have been out ayed by Justin Fields, Joe Burrow and Daniel Jones

That was all Carr. That wasn’t the play call. He changed the play at the line.

I’ve supported and defended this guy enough. Mariotta needs to start Thursday.

  10. This is the ghost of Gruden. Carr isn’t great but no QB short of Mahomes or Brady is good enough to overcome the mistakes made in the last 3 drafts. Six first round picks in the past 3 years. Two are gone for conduct/character issues that were not all that surprising. One is riding the bench. Another was a 2nd/3rd round guard prospect drafted to play OT? Jacobs and Abrams are OK but they are 2nd and 3rd round talents. You guys can blame Carr all you want, but lousy talent is gonna make any QB look bad. Time to start over again but a new QB is not the main problem in need if fixing.

  11. When you have a QB throwing prayers up last week and can’t hold onto the ball every week it starts and ends with him.

He threw those two passes last week like Favre did in the playoffs years ago. It was a complete joke then and it’s a complete joke when Carr did it. He’s a fumble machine. He makes dumb, scared choices. He’s done as the Vegas QB.

  12. Zay Jones , Edwards ,Jacobs all 3 should ride the pine what are doing for the last 3 weeks answer NOTHING , at least shake the lineup because this isnt working coach! once again fail in the 2nd half of the season.
