Packers kicker Mason Crosby is just 2-for-6 on field goals over the last three weeks, but his job is not in jeopardy.

That’s the word from Packers coach Matt LaFleur, who said today that his team will “absolutely not” replace Crosby.

Crosby made a 54-yard field goal in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, but he also missed a 32-yarder. LaFleur hinted that the snap and hold may not have been perfect on the miss.

“That never falls squarely on on individual,” LaFleur said. “Our operation has to improve. From the snap to the hold to the kick. So we’ll continue to work on that. But certainly have a lot of confidence in Mason, never would’ve sent him out there if we didn’t on a 54-yarder. That shows the level of confidence we have in him and on the entire group to execute, and they executed. But you have to make the chip shots.”

Crosby has made just 65 percent of his field goals this season, the second-lowest mark of his 15-year career. But his job remains safe.

  1. A kickers job is always safe…….until it isn’t. One or two more games where Crosby misses and we will hear….”Mason and the Packers have agreed to part ways”.

  2. Matt LaFleur was smart to not say anything that would further dent Crosby’s psyche. But the Packers have carried a kicker all season on the practice squad and you can bet behind closed doors they are evaluating options. If he makes two field goals he missed against the Chiefs it’s overtime and if he makes the field goal he missed Sunday against the Vikings it’s also overtime, where anything can happen.

  3. To be fair to him he had a bad season before and he overcame it, on the other hand it’s hard to go all the way with a suspect kicker, I know that only too well.

  4. Even we untrained eyes can see him still aiming them sometimes and not just kicking. Yips w/ the new crew still.

  5. As good of a coach as LaFleur is he has to realize that the fans are not fools. We all know there are no ‘absolutes’ here. If Crosby starts missing kicks on a continual basis and costs the team wins, he’ll be gone.

  6. Crosby had a bad day against the Benagls, but after that he seemed to have gotten his groove back. The real freefall started with the Chiefs game, after the Packers changed their long snapper.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what went wrong, and how to fix it. Hunter Bradley still hasn’t signed with another team since Green Bay cut him; they should be able to re-sign him with little trouble.

A lot of teams have been carrying an extra kicker on the practice squad because of possible covid concerns. Ravens have Justin Tucker, but carry Jake Verity on their practice squad.

  8. Matt LeFlower should be more worried about his defensive coach and his secondary scheme which aint working. GB is not a talented team on defense. Teams dont try to run much because passing is easy pickings.
Last year they won 5 games because teams wasted too much time trying to run and when they finally realized how easy it was to move the ball in the air, it was often too late to overcome Rodgers air attack.
Yesterday the Vikes exposed this team as weak and easy to score points on.

  9. Looking forward to Crosby missing the kick in the NFC championship game that sends the Rams to the Super Bowl.

  10. The coach pretending his job is safe does not mean his job actually is safe. He misses another chip shot and he’s gone.

  11. Mason Crosbys kicking leg will turn to leather before the Packers get rid of him.he has already missed eight this season so 16 misses isnt out of the question.why blame the long snapper or holder when the ball is firmly on the ground ready to be kicked through the uprights but that is what defenders of kickers will say.

  12. Packers standing behind the guy who has given 15 years to them is a loyalty not often seen in the NFL. I hope he can get his head right. He is big in the Green Bay community and deserves our support.

  13. “What about replacing the packers horrific defense matt?”

Packers, 8-3, Points Against = 214 = 19.45 points per game given up

    Vikings, 5-5,Points Against = 242 = 24.2 points per game given up

Whose defense is “horrific” and needs to be replaced? Lol poor Vikings fans knew the season was over long ago so as always all they have left is to whine about the Packers

  14. Notice he didn’t say anything about Aaron Rodgers

The guy who threw for 4 TD’s, almost 400 yards and a 150 QB rating? What could he possibly say??

I get people like to troll the Packers but man does a Packers post bring out the thick ones.

Case in point. Where do these guys come from? #3 defense without our top corner and olb. Obviously a terrible scheme which is only effective due to the talent we don’t have.
