Jets put Joe Flacco, Mike White on COVID-19 reserve list

Multiple reports on Tuesday indicated the Jets will start Zach Wilson at quarterback against the Texans on Sunday and it’s a good thing that he’s recovered from his knee injury because the team is running short on other options.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Jets have placed Joe Flacco and Mike White on the COVID-19 reserve list. Josh Johnson is on the practice squad and is now in line to be on the active roster for Week 12.

The reason for their placement on the list is not known. Flacco is unvaccinated, so he will be out 10 days if he tested positive and five days if he was an unvaccinated close contact. If White’s vaccinated, he can return in less than 10 days if he has two negative tests 24 hours apart.

Wilson has missed the last four games with White starting three times and Flacco starting in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins. Johnson relieved White in a Week Nine loss to the Colts after White suffered a forearm injury.

  1. Looks like ol’ Broadway Joe Namath will have to get the #12 jersey off moth balls and suit up and play this week.

  2. Great work by the Jets. Herman Munster is unvaxxed collecting millions from the Jets.

    Just lovely.

  3. Didn’t Joe Flacco just say last week that he was not vaccinated?

What are the odds he’s going to get Covid? Idiot.

  4. Wasn’t it less than a week ago that Joe Flacco didn’t want to talk about his nonvaccinated status? Lol.

Thank god the Jets took him off of the Eagles hands. It was a stupid signing by the Eagles and an even worse trade by the Jets.

    Kaepernick is available

I mean I’m available too but just like Kaepernick I’m not worth a roster spot either 🤷‍♂️

Hey, I have a good idea, let’s trade for an unvaccinated QB!
    ———-
Does it make a difference? They got what they needed out of the trade as it wasnt like Flacco was going to continue to start over Wilson. Now the trade itself wasnt smart but that has 0 to do with vaccination status.

  7. Amazing how many quarterbacks around the league refuse to get vaccinated. Yep, their right, but it seems like a flaky QB choice vs any logic based decision.

  8. Flacco will start. He was a close contact and tested negative.
The Jets slow-played the news until he was already cleared. Naughty, naughty.

  9. To answer the question about does it matter- no. Jets aren’t making the playoffs this year. Wilson is the future. But the fact is they gave up a 6th rounder for Flacco who is now hurting the team rather than helping it. They didn’t give up a ton but still it made no sense. If they wanted another vet QB they could have plucked someone off another team’s practice squad.

  10. I’m ready to see severe penalties, in terms of 0 coverage of medical costs, for those who willfully opt to not get vaccinated. Rational is when you opt for risky behavior it’s commonplace to get disclaimed from various insurance coverages. Enough of this idiocy of subjecting society to your wanton risks without consequences!

Got what they wanted out of the trade as Flacco wasn’t going to start over Wilson? They traded for a player who won’t even be backing up Wilson for 10 days, but that has nothing to do with vaccination status, right? If vaccinated, then only two negative tests 24 hours apart are needed. Which means, he would’ve been on the sidelines.

  12. The unvaccinated don’t trust the medical community UNTIL they need them because they have COVID and have to be hospitalized!
Bunch of hypocrites causing the pandemic to continue!
    Get vaccinated!!

  13. This is why,as a professional athlete who plays on a team, you get vaccinated. Now the Jets have 2 back-ups who are unavailable. What if Wilson was unable to go,or he gets hurt again?

  14. Elijah Moore needs to automatically go to the pro bowl this YEAR. …look what the kid has done with a revolving door at QB?

  15. At least this saves the Jets from themselves by playing Flacco again. Absolutely nothing to be gained by playing him. You must find what you have with the kids.

  16. Good thing they got the mobile Quarterback that can run around and throw amazing passes off script the few times they are needed each game, and not some rube like Mac Jones who would probably just be available every game to run an efficient offense. That stuff is boring. I prefer the dipsy doodle throws because it’s about saying WOW, not winning games. Super Bowl Quarterbacks like Brady, both Mannings, Ryan, Foles, Garappolo, Flacco, Brees, Roethlisberger, etc are all dinosaurs and can’t succeed in “today’s” NFL like Mahomes and Wilson. Errrrr.

Did you know that 4 pocket Quarterbacks drafted and trained by the New England Patriots have started NFL games this year? But they can’t draft talent. Belichick is a great coach but a terrible GM. Errrrrr.

    Bring back Testaverde!

    ———-

Could not do much worse than what they have there now!

  18. The joe Flacco who was just recently pontificating on his non vaccinated status and its benefits to his personal rights.

  19. Josh Johnson was the best of the QBs the Jets had so far.

Moved the chains, and three TDs to one Int.

Looked way better than ole Jump Ball Joe Flacco.

  20. Either vaxxed or not he still probably would’ve missed a game. The amount of vaccinated players catching Covid in the NFL should be alarming. These breakthrough cases reported in the NFL aren’t being added to the CDCs numbers. Know why? They don’t report all breakthroughs. Only severe cases. Does that alarm anyone? Stop listening to the talking heads and do some basic math with these cases. 32 teams, 53 men per active roster accounts for only 1700 people. Look how many of these fully vaxxed players have tested positive. That vaccinated coworker next to you is probably infected.

  21. Joe are you unvaccinated and following the NFL protocols to ensure safety?

Joe: Yes I am unvaccinated and following protocols

Good here’s a covid 19 reserve list reservation that’s a minimum of 10 days so I suggest you go get a shot and we can drop it down to 7

  22. If Joe really wanted to compete he would taken a shot for the team but he was just looking for a paycheck.

Let me guess: Flacco gets just as much vitriol as Rodgers.
    —————————

Rogers got it for the lying, not the unvaxed status.

  24. Has Saleh made a single, good decision this year?
    Seriously.
The Jets have never been THIS funny before!

  25. Flacco’s days in the NFL are numbered. He has little value other then being plugged in when someone gets injured.

  26. One week after that moron Flaco bragged he was an anti-vaxxer he’s got COVID….lol…loser.

  27. The few plays I have watched of Jets football it seems to me Josh Johnson looked better than any of the other Jets QB’S.

  28. I find it interesting that there is a lot of talk about “professionalism” by commenters here when talking about the new emphasis on taunting, but that same standard isn’t being applied by many to an NFL QB who’s unvaxxed.

Jets should never have signed an unvaxxed backup. Flacco would be starting Sunday if he wasn’t irresponsible.
