The Steelers were shorthanded on defense for Sunday night’s 41-37 loss to the Chargers and head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he expects some reinforcements at practice this week.

Tomlin said at his press conference that he anticipates having linebacker T.J. Watt, cornerback Joe Haden, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to rejoin the team after missing all of last week. Watt hurt his hip and knee in Week 10, Haden has been dealing with an ankle injury, and Fitzpatrick went on the COVID-19 reserve list early last week.

On the other side of the ball, Tomlin said that tight end Eric Ebron (knee) and left guard J.C. Hassenauer (pec) are questionable for this week.

Practice participation will likely determine if they will be back to face the Bengals and Wednesday’s injury report will bring the first word on how much work everyone is able to do.

  1. They should be without Cam Heyward after his punk move against Justin Herbert – punching him in the stomach. He should have been kicked out of the game, fined, and suspended. But he’s a Steeler so the NFL will turn a blind eye. Let’s see what happens when a defensive player on another team does the same thing to Ben. Another NFL Golden Team.

  2. Heyward is being lifted up by the ref off Herbert and the ref drops Heyward, and Heyward’s arm comes down to break his fall. Watch the replay, its clear as day.

Yeah….and Mike Tomlin didn’t try and trip Jacoby Jones

  4. Second time this year a Steeler literally punched an opposing player with zero repurcution

  5. I expect all three defensive players to either be limited or listed as veterans day off on Wednesday. They all know the scheme and have very little need for the practice reps. My concern is the Hassenauer injury. He is the backup center and the swing guard. That means an injury at either of those positions brings the third stringer into play!

  6. So tired of hearing Steelers’ fans make excuses for every loss. As if the Steelers are the only team with injured players. Man up and stop whining.
