Josh Allen: I’m very confident in our guys

After falling to the Patriots on Monday night, the Bills have dropped to 7-5 on the season and are 3-3 since starting the year 4-1.

In the club’s last three losses — two of which have come at home — Buffalo has scored six, 15, and 10 points. Monday’s blustery conditions clearly factored into both teams’ performances, but the Bills weren’t able to get the ball in the end zone on three of their four red-zone opportunities.

Quarterback Josh Allen finished the game 15-of-30 passing for 145 yards and a touchdown and was also Buffalo’s leading rusher with 39 yards on six carries. He said after the game that he’s sure the Bills will get back on track.

I’m very confident in our guys,” Allen said, via Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News. “We’ve got some great leaders. We’ve got some true professionals on this team and this can be one that can rip us apart or bring us together, and I think the latter. I think we’ll get things rolling. I don’t think, I know. I know for a fact that we will because of the makeup that we have.”

The Bills don’t have the toughest schedule down the stretch, but they do have two challenging road opponents. The team will head to Florida to face the Buccaneers on Sunday. Then after a home matchup with the Panthers, Buffalo ends the season at New England, home against Atlanta, and home against the Jets.

Buffalo should make the postseason. But opportunities are slipping away for the club to host a playoff game as a division winner.

  1. It’s a good thing you are , your coach isn’t.
He threw everyone under the bus after the game to the point one of his players chirped back at him on twitter.

  2. They were outmatched and outsized for the kind of game that was played last night – but I thought they played w/ a ton of heart & great effort.

They’re more “built” to beat a team like the Bucs, so this Sunday will be interesting. It’s a huge game for them. If they can’t beat either the Pats or Bucs, it’s back to the drawing board.

But I think they have a run in them.

  3. I’m enjoying the hot takes from Pats fans, who can tend to be sore winners.

We do play again in a few weeks. And there may not be 40 mph winds that day.

At least the head chirper is taking the day off (so far).

  4. Me thinks some people put Josh Allen into Canton, the Bills in the Super Bowl and McDermott on Mt Rushmore a wee bit soon. They just lost to a team that threw the ball 3 times.

  5. Josh Allen is a very impressive quarterback, very talented…. but stop with the whining after every play.. it gets old dude

  6. I think Bass is one of the best kickers in the NFL but after watching Folk’s FG move extremely left to right I thought maybe he should have aimed a tad more to the left goal post! Just an observation. Also, some of the pregame conversation between Josh and Griese explained that it was better throwing to the right side of the field than the left where the ball sailed away from Diggs.

Yes, things are a little different when teams take you seriously and you play a first place schedule.

  8. He shouldn’t be.
He’s playing behind a bad offensive line and handing off to running backs that are worse runners than he is.
The possibility that the Bills miss the playoffs is getting likelier by the week.

You’ll take us seriously soon enough. I didn’t know it was ok to lose 3 out of 4, and 14-10 at home when you’re supposed to be great because teams take you seriously and you are playing a “first place schedule”. Thanks for the clarification and good luck if you make the playoffs.
