Mike McCarthy back in Cowboys facility, declares: “We’re going to win this game”

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is back, and feeling confident.

After missing the last 10 days with COVID-19, McCarthy returned today and sounded upbeat about his team’s prospects in Sunday’s big division game against Washington.

“We’re going to win this game. I’m confident in that,” McCarthy said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Asked if he has any concerns about providing bulletin board material for the Football Team, McCarthy responded, “What am I supposed to say? I fully expect to win every game I’ve ever competed in.”

The Cowboys have an 8-4 record and a two-game lead over 6-6 Washington in the NFC East, but with the teams facing each other on Sunday and then again two weeks later, Washington controls its own destiny in the division. This is the biggest game of the season so far for Dallas, and McCarthy is glad to be back and ready to compete.

  3. I’m fine with the bravado but just remember as Jimmy would say “If you’re going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk!”

  4. If I was setting the betting odds, I would have Washington’s moneyline at -325. It’s going to be a blood bath.

  5. This should be a win for the Boys but since he said that I see WFT winning. The whole world is happy when Dallas loses.

    Remember he had the Packers fitted for SB rings the night before they beat the Steelers in the SB.Brash? Maybe?But why wouldn’t you feel like that?
    People can rip on him all they want but he has won a SB.He developed Aaron Rodgers into one of the all time great QBs and had only 4 losing seasons in 14 years.Last year was one of those when most of the team was injured including the staring QB.
    Not a Cowboys fan at all but c’mon he is the best coach in the division with the best roster.The Cowboys are relevant again.

  24. Nothing like a variation of the good old guarantee going into a game. Washington wins because of this.

  25. All Dallas has to do is regain its confidence, starting with Dak. Will that happen? I wouldn’t bet on it.

    My theory is Dak spent so much effort, physically and emotionally, working to come back from the injury that he peaked mentally around the time of the Pats game and won’t get back to that level this year.

  26. Non-news. Dak is 7-1 against the WTF and the odds of him not bettering that record are slim. They wont blow them out but Heinicke? Yeah, right.

  28. The only way Dallas loses this game is if they come out flat on offense like they have 4 out of the last 5 games.

  29. This is about football. Parsons, Lawrence, Gregory and their big 1 gap DT and you seriously think WFT will win? It will take a better game than they have played all year to beat Dallas, unless Dallas just doesn’t show up, which I dont see happening. 35-10. WFT QB has made some amazing plays, but he also makes a lot of mistakes, Staubach he is not. Dallas also has their top 3 WR healthy again. Good luck covering that crew. Oh yeah, the league leading CB in picks, who just keeps making plays. Sure, WFT will win, sure. Go back to making childish remarks about Jerry and the HC now, it’s about all some of you are good for.

  32. The Cowboys have such a clown-show at the Head Coaching job for 25 years. Parcells was there for a cup of coffee, but he was old and tired. He signed great players, but his tenure was kind of sad, really. Mike McCarthy: nincompoop; Jason Garrett: punchline; Wade Phillips: great coordinator, terrible head coach; Dave Campo: three of the best seasons in Cowboys Haters’ lives. LMAO!

  34. McCarthy is a terrible coach. Rodgers made him look good in Green Bay. Dak isn’t Rodgers. The Cowboys won’t win a Super Bowl with this bum as coach.

  38. Nice….. NOW as if it was going to be hard enough you have to make it harder. Dak isn’t playing worth a darn and NOW 2 RB’s that are hurt… yeah gonna be a long night. Can’t wait until the season is over and the excuse wagon gets rolled out again…. I am willing to bet it’ll be “Dak had an injury and wasn’t right”…… “We had no RB’s”…..it’ll be something that will keep the fans happy. None of it will be accurate but they’ll believe it anyway.
