The Cowboys made their victory over Washington more dramatic than it needed to be.

Dak Prescott threw a pick-six with 4:13 left to draw Washington within one score, but they held on for a 27-20 win. Dallas now is 9-4, ending Washington’s four-game winning streak. Washington fell to 6-7 with four games to play, though it plays the Cowboys again in two weeks.

The Cowboys led 24-0 at halftime and 27-8 in the fourth quarter.

Jonathan Williams scored on a 1-yard run with 5:09 left, and after a failed 2-point conversion, the home team trailed 27-14. Only 56 seconds later, Cole Holcomb intercepted Prescott and returned it 31 yards to the end zone. Washington had the extra point blocked.

Washington had a opportunity to tie or take the lead, getting the ball back at its own 30 with 3:04 remaining. But Kyle Allen, who replaced the injured Taylor Heinicke in the fourth quarter, was sacked by Randy Gregory on third-and-three.

Allen fumbled, and Jayron Kearse recovered for the Cowboys, who ran out the final 2:24.

The Cowboys held Washington to 224 yards, forced four turnovers and made five sacks. Washington went 3-for-14 on third down.

Micah Parsons made two sacks and forced a fumble. Dorance Armstrong tipped a pass that Gregory intercepted and Armstrong returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown.

Heinicke was 11-of-25 for 122 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Allen went 4-of-9 for 53 yards.

Prescott was 22-of-39 for 211 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

  1. Good game, Wowboys. The Team will win in 14 days.

All of those cheap shots will not be forgotten.

  2. Say, speaking of cheap shots, perhaps the WFT fanboy at the top of this comment section has a short memory. Maybe he’s got New England Patriot-itis, namely the belief that it’s okay for them to take dirty cheap shots, but no one else. Sorry Potomac Pete, but you gotta get closer to NFL offices in NY than you are to that to get those gifts.

  3. Can someone please hire Kellen Moore so we can run an actual offense? This guy is horrible.

  4. A typical well-coached McCarthy team trying to find ways to snatch defeat from the hands of victory. Any competent coach with that Dallas roster would be an outright Super Bowl favorite.

  5. Biggest game in years and your stadium is overrun by Dallas fans
I don’t know if the WFT experience could be any more pathetic
    That is all

  6. Dak is playing worse than he ever has. That pick 6 was as bad as it gets. He’s hesitant, blind and inaccurate. All the qualities you need in a veteran qb.

  7. Biggest game in years and your stadium is overrun by Dallas fans

Yes its true. Fact is WFT fans are so sick of Snyder that they wont buy anything to support him. We dont show cuz he ruined the franchise. Why give him the cash? Y’all can pay that weasel.

Man, are those 2 poorly coached teams. The pick 6 was stupefying.
    _______________________________
How is a team at 9-4 poorly coached?? I think 6-7 is poorly coached but not a 9-4 team especially if that team is 74-46 against you…

  10. Some of you need to learn football. Dallas was up 24-0 in a game where WFT never threatened. At that point 2 of 3 first downs were from penalty. Dallas let up the gas, Dak played average except for 2 drives. Dallas D, stomped down on a team that had ruled time of possession against pretty good teams. That is what happened. Letting up in a game you are dominant in is nothing new. Should they have stomped down on them, sure. But ask anyone who plays in the NFL–NOTHING comes easy, even when you are better. I wonder if the commentary is just a bunch of little kids who hate the Cowboys, because you cant call yourself a football fan if you dont know any better than this. And the refs favoring Dallas? how many pre-snap penalties did WFT have, how could that be turned into “Refs gave Dallas this game”? Also, I hope the next time my receiver only gets 1 foot and one knee down on the same leg its a TD, because I have been watching football for 30 years and that is not a TD by rule.

  11. Just remember Cowpie fans – this is the best your team can play.

Your loss in Dallas in two games will be delicious. Better protect your star.

I cannot believe how boneheaded that coaching staff is – and how slow Dakota is to process reality – that is one of the most boneheaded interceptions ever thrown.

  12. Dak’s int was bad for sure but his vision was blocked by the DT in front of him and the LB who made the int was not in sightline. The Cowboys are ready to roll with the best D in the NFL and a offense that can knife you.

  13. “I have been watching football for 30 years and that is not a TD by rule.” You haven’t been paying very good attention then.

  14. I got one thing to say to all you haters….How Bout Those Cowboys!!!!NFC East Champs and SB bound as rest of NFC are pretenders.

  15. I cannot remember the last time I saw a Cowboy defense as dominate as this one is.
In previous years the offense had to be prolific and almost perfect to win.
But today with Bad Dak and no real running game this defense stepped up and kicked rear end
    earning the win.

This comment requires context. Either how old you are, or how short your memory is, because I’m 53 and I have clear memories of better

Your memory doesn’t go back as far as the Raiders game? How did the Chiefs defense do against them today vs the Boys ashort time ago?

I say: One game doesn’t make a season. ’85 Bears gave up a lot of yards in a game and lost to the Dolphins by double digits.

  18. Actually had Dallas had just played average offense against KC they win, Held them to 19 and was MIA on offense all day, Dallas’ defense was the only reason it was a game

  19. That “fumble” at the end was not a fumble… qb’s arm was clearly going forward. Redskins got hosed.

Congrats on the win today but if you look at that game and see a Super Bowl contender then I’ll have what you’re having.

  21. Let’s be honest here….Dak is terrible. With all the talent they have on offense he should be lighting the league up.
He makes terrible decisions and does not see the field at all.Cowboys offense looked smoother with Rush playing.
Not sure if it is McCarthy but Dak has regressed so far this year he isn’t clearly better than any other QB in the division. They all stink!
