Tom Brady downplays his in-game holiday greeting for Saints sideline

At one point late in Sunday night’s shutout loss to the Saints, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady lumbered toward the opposing sideline after an interception, got in the face of a members of the Saints’ staff, and delivered a heartwarming holiday greeting.

Go f–k yourself,” Brady yelled (if my lipreading skills are any good).

Brady was asked about the conversation during his post-game press conference.

“Nothing,” Brady told reporters. “Just football.”

The question posed to Brady mentioned that the interaction happened with defensive coordinator (and head coach for a night) Dennis Allen. Based on the video, it doesn’t look like Allen. According to the Saints, it was assistant head coach/defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen.

It’s unclear whether Brady was specifically upset with something that had happened or that was said, or whether Brady simply was venting during what became the third shutout of his career.

It’s also unclear why Brady wasn’t flagged for taunting. It was one of several incidents from the game that, based on the manner in which the taunting rule has been enforced, should have drawn a flag. Although the rule is bad, enforcing it inconsistently makes it even worse.

Brady also may be getting a bill from the Bucs for what he did to his Microsoft Surface, busting it up and throwing it away. Or maybe he’ll get a new endorsement deal with Apple.

  1. All class, that guy. At least he shook hands after the game, usually he runs away and hides.

  2. A competitor who can’t stand losing. I’ll take em all day long as opposed to the dudes who stand or sit there chuckling and smiling.

  3. Don’t mind a competitor that hates losing, however, I hate sore losers and unfortunately he’s also just that.

Last night is also the reason AB wasn’t jettisoned from the team. TB knows he isn’t going anywhere without at least two top notch WR’s and Gronk. And Gronk by the way week to week is starting to look bad.

  4. “It’s also unclear why Brady wasn’t flagged for taunting” – Are you kidding me? After 20 years is it still not obvious to you that the rules don’t apply to Brady?? You breath on him and they call you for roughing. You barely touch his receivers and they call PI. His O-linemen drag guys to the ground by their jerseys and never get called for holding. The special treatment he gets is a joke.

  5. Brady’s rules are different, he can do what no other players are allowed to do. His pouty games, that he has 2-3 times per year, are what keeps the majority of people liking him. He’s still the goat, just a whiney goat.

  6. Brady gets all the calls and a free pass from the league. The real T. Brady on display and it wasn’t pretty. I would have loved to see the flag and Tom’s reaction.

  7. Why wasn’t he called for Taunting? We have seen several taunting calls for less this season.

  8. No one likes losing Tom. Be a professional and move on. You’ve had more than your share of wins and calls that go your way. Last week against the Bills was the latest example.

  9. Brady is used to favorable treatment from the refs. His Oline was called for holding a couple of times early ( which never happens) and they had to stop. He then felt the pressure, got sacked 4 times and had a couple of turnovers. His actions of yelling at refs, throwing his surface pro and running over to the Saints bench show just how entitled he has become.

    Brady TD passes: 0

So that’s what he looks like when he doesn’t have Belichick as coach or an all star offense around him. Huh.

  11. The Brady haters only appear during the few fleeting moments a year when he actually loses a game, but then they come flying out of the woodwork in droves to tell us he’s merely been “lucky” for 20 years and 10 SBs or has only had success based on the refs.

  12. Brady really thinks he has the cred to act like Jordan and talk that way to anyone he wants. Just LOL.

Sorry Tommy you’re the GOAT in football but you ain’t the icon that MJ is – and you never will be.

    Yep.

It’s why he chose All Star TB. To protect the ego.

Stop , you are trying way too hard every QB has a bad game
How did Rogers look vs this same team WITH all his weapons this season

    Yeah not great.

How did Murray look yesterday vs the Lions without Hopkins?
    Yeah not great

  15. That’s the guy they want to anoint as this year’s MVP? Nothing I saw says he should get it! Taylor or Rodgers!

  16. Tom Brady not flagged for taunting, because we all know TB calls his own penalties. How many times have seen him take a clean, legal hit, then turn around to complain to the closest ref and suddenly yellow starts to fly? LOL!

I wonder if the issue was that he accidentally prepped for the game by watching the wrong illegally recorded team practice, or forgot to bring ‘The Deflator’ along on the team bus?

    ___

Deflategate happened in Jan 2015….since then Brady made 5 of the 7 SB’s and has gone 4-1 in those games.

Are you saying the league isnt checking the PSI of of the game balls since all the hoopla and hand wringing ? Maybe it wasnt such a big deal after all? Or maybe it just never ever mattered?

Anything less than 3 elite receivers + 1 elite rusher and he’s as mediocre as anyone else.

Right because before last season he won 6 SB with “three elite WR and an elite RB”

    Try again….

He goes for over 500 yards in a SB vs ATL without Gronk
His 3 “elite wr “ that game . Edelman, Amandola and Chris Hogan.
    Oh a a rookie.

  19. I respect Tom – how could you not. But I’m not sure anyone whines more than him. Every sack, every incompletion on a third down, every pick…it’s gotta be someone else’s fault right? The refs, the receiver, the tackle…SOMEBODY screwed up. It’s kind of entertaining to watch.

  20. How can a guy who just threw an interception be called for taunting? I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

Umm, Edelman was elite. And, you don’t need multiple “elite” WRs if you’re the greatest at your position.

    Get it?

You must be hating seeing Mac Jones outperform Brady almost weekly, huh? lol!

  22. I’m surprised he didn’t yell at the refs for not making up some penalty whenever he got sacked. He’s just an ill-tempered child when things don’t go his way.

  23. If anyone should have been flagged for taunting, it should have been the coach who was on the playing field (not the sidelines) clapping right after the interception.

And then there was also the CJ Gardner, who got in Brady’s face right after the interception.

  24. Godel will downplay as well. Any player acted as he did not only to the other team sidelines but the officials would be fined today

  25. “It’s also unclear why Brady wasn’t flagged for taunting”…..Because It’s The Goat..But he completely deserved it!!!

  26. I can’t deny or begrudge the man’s accomplishments, but I wish he’d own his churlish behavior. Once is an accident, twice is a trend, three times is a pattern, and this is more than a pattern. One of the reasons why Saints fans loved Drew Brees so much was that, on those (rare) occasions when he had a bad game, he owned it and didn’t act out. Tom Brady could learn something from that.
