Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks was ejected from Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears after hitting a sliding Justin Fields in the head midway through the fourth quarter.

Fields scrambled for a first down and slid in an upright position. Kendricks hit Fields helmet-to-helmet and led to his disqualification from the rest of the game for the personal foul.

Kendricks had seven tackles on the night for Minnesota, second-most on the team, before exiting the contest.

The penalty gave the Bears a first-and-goal at the Minnesota 7-yard line. However, tight end Jimmy Graham was unable to secure a third down pass in the end zone and wide receiver Darnell Mooney was unable to catch a fourth down pass and stay in bounds to keep the Bears off the board.

The Vikings lead 17-3 with 8:30 left to play.

  1. If it was a vicious helmet to helmet hit and the league cares about head injuries then Fields should have entered the concussion protocols afterwards if Kendricks is ejected.

  2. Justin Fields is garbage! He is no franchise Qb! Keeps making the same mistakes over, and over! Looks lost out on the field!

  3. All those iffy penalties in the first half, I was gonna say, hey Bears fans, that’s what it feels like for us when we play the Packers.

But the refs made up for it in the 2nd half on the Vikings.

  4. Same old, same old.
The Vikings are coached to play dirty.
They’ve been doing it for years. They’re just awful.
    This is old news.

What’s truly astounding is the fact that the league’s refs finally made some kind of stand against their play after years of just ignoring it and looking the other way.
    I’m shocked.

  5. As a non-fan of either squad, a Packers fan stuck here in Vikingville in fact, I have to say that was one of the most poorly officiated games I’ve seen in a while, which given the sorry state of officiating, says a lot. Between the zebras, and Griese’s relentless homer takes on the broadcast (no Brian, Chicago doesn’t DESERVE a winning team), I barely made it through without losing my dinner.

  6. He should have been kicked out. The last person you want to hurt is Justin Fields. Fields playing exponentially increased the odds of the Vikes winning.

    _______

Don’t be silly. First, its not like college where he is going to miss time the next game. It does happen fast but Kendricks made ZERO effort in avoiding it.

Second Based on what you stated should happen, a team could put some scrub LB or DB and go head hunting, get ejected for playing dirty and then be rewarded by removing what a potential star QB or WR (Like Adams in GB vs. SF earlier this season). This would happen a LOT late in games (like tonight and GB vs SF) with teams trying to knock out players and likely be even more dangerous to player safety.

  8. I guess Fields was a good QB in College or it was the fact he played @ Ohio State surrounded by talented players they made him look good because he is awful, I thought the Bears hit when they moved up trading first round picks and got him. Wow he stinks.

  9. Kendricks is not a dirty player. This was at full game-speed and Fields stays in an upright/sitting position when he slides. How could he not see that coming? It’s good for a 15 yard gain (and a bs ejection that helped the Bears)- but his skull isn’t going to last very long.

  10. For all those that believe that Justin Fields is just plain bad. Considered this, Peyton Manning had a passer rating of 71.2 with 3,739 yards, 26 touchdowns and 28 interceptions in 16 games his rookie season in 1998, and the team 1 and 15 for the season. The Colts were bad back then. The Bears offensively are just as bad and this could be the root cause for some of his poor play.
