The Vikings won’t have running back Dalvin Cook for Sunday’s home game against the Rams, but they will have wide receiver Adam Thielen.

Thielen missed the last two games with a high-ankle sprain and he was listed as questionable for Week 16 when the Vikings issued their injury designations on Friday. Thielen avoided the inactive list on Sunday, however, and will be available on offense this weekend.

Thielen has 64 catches for 686 yards and 10 touchdowns in his 12 appearances for the Vikings this season. While the Vikings have not shied away from using Alexander Mattison when Cook’s been missing in the past, having Thielen and Justin Jefferson on hand is a plus for their offensive hopes on Sunday.

Wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette is the only Vikings player on the inactive list Sunday. Quarterback Sean Mannion and tackle Rashod Hill joined Cook on the COVID reserve list Sunday.

  1. Nice! The guy who had a good 10 game stretch like four years ago and hasn’t done much of anything before or since will be playing today.

  2. The Vikes are just better managed then other teams. Dalvin Cook will miss some games because they have two very very good backs behind him. Thielan, no rush they have very good tight ends and receivers, let him heal.
Ya get your big play makers healthy and rested for the big run. they have that luxury. Other teams have one decent back and the others you never heard of. Three or four very good tight ends, ditto.
Third stringers on the vikes could start on most other teams and its because Spielman is the best wheeler deeler of all the GM’s, he created the word bundle.
Last year they had the best running back, receiver in football, all via the draft and moving to get the people you know will excel.
PS Not a Vike fan at all but they reload all the time and are experts at it

  3. Yes, our Vikings are experts at reloading all the time, but they never win anything . . . ???

Probably explains that scintillating 7-8 record. 🤣
