Rob Gronkowski: Tom Brady should be the MVP every year

Rob Gronkowski has played his entire career with Tom Brady as his quarterback, and he thinks that means he’s always been with the best.

Asked if Brady should be the league MVP this season, Gronk said Brady should be the league MVP every season.

“Tom’s the MVP every year,” Gronk said. “The way that he adjusts on the fly to his personnel, just trying to get the ball into the best player’s hands or the best matchup on that current play. He’s just always ready to go no matter what the situation is. So he’s MVP every year, baby.”

Gronkowski said it has been his honor to play with Brady.

“It’s just cool to be part of history,” Gronkowski said. “It’s unbelievable. It shows what his work ethic is, howe dedicated he is to the game of football, and how talented he is. The determination, week in and week out, is just unbelievable. It’s just surreal how he’s pulling it off at age 44, coming out here like he’s in his 20s still and just winging that ball, zipping it where it needs to be, making fantastic throws, week in and week out. It’s just an honor to be a part of.”

Given that Brady leads the NFL in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns and has led the Bucs to a 12-4 record, it’s actually a little surprising that he isn’t viewed as a stronger MVP contender. He may not be the MVP every year, but looking over the course of his career, he may have deserved more than the three MVPs he has won.

  1. As a Bills fan who has watched Brady throughout his career, I agree.
Tom wins with talent around him.
Tom wins with turds around him.
    Tom wins without a defense.
    Tom wins with a defense.
Tom is the definition of consistent clutch. 30 second left with the game in Tom’s hands? You’re going down and there is nothing you can do about it.
    Right Atlanta?
Bottom line? Enjoy him. There will not be another one.

  2. If Tom Brady doesn’t win it, I can only conclude the system is rigged. Brady is hands down best candidate.

  3. If we are looking at QBs only, Brady is absolutely the MVP. And he’s done it with injured players all year. I used to be a hater, but can no longer deny it. The man is the GOAT. The talk that Rodgers is the clear MVP candidate is absurd. And why aren’t we talking about Kupp and Taylor more? I believe they deserve to be part of the conversation.

  4. I agree with gronk. And belicick should be the coach of the year multiple times over the past 20 years.

  5. He should probably have more than 3 MVP awards, and he’s been great this year, but he has not been the best or most valuable player (let alone QB) this season, and I say that as someone whose favorite player has and always will be Brady. Just cause someone isn’t the mvp some years doesn’t mean they weren’t great in the seasons they didn’t win. There are a lot of great and deserving players for the award every season.

  6. His opinion is just as stupid as his advertisements on tv.all he proves is that Brady is his best friend.

  7. In my opinion, Rodgers is the MVP this year, but Brady falls into the category that Belichick does in coaching. They’re in a different category from the others over their careers and could have double the individual awards they have now. What Brady is doing and how he’s looking doing it at the age 44 is unheard of.

  8. Gronk is a great tight end but he thinks with his heart not his brain. Never forget Brady was a cheater and a very sore loser among other less desirable things…..he is not a god.

  9. LOL no.

There are a lot of great players through the league that deserve a shot at MVP. #Tommy isn’t the only good QB in football. #Tommy fans have only been following football since 2001 so they wouldn’t know that anyway but it’s true.

  10. Tom wins without a defense.

    He does?

What exactly has he won without a top 10 scoring defense? Not Super Bowls…

  11. It is crazy that Tom Brady has done it for so long at such a high level that it is assumed he will win 12 games, throw 4500 yards and 35 touchdowns! a 26 yo QB gets a 200 million dollar contract for doing it once! TB is expected to do it and gets zero credit beside saying it is impressive for his age!

  12. Yeah, he really should have won the year he told his guys you have to be faster. But they weren’t, so he tucked his tail and ran to Tampa where there were much faster guys.

  13. Helpful: “Tom Brady has had a great season, has passed for more yards than anybody else, by far, and should be the MVP this season.”

Not helpful: “Tom Brady should be the MVP every season!”

  14. Is anyone anywhere surprised Gronk feels this way? The guy came out of retirement to play with him. I find it odd anyone takes this seriously. Every year? Really? Just ignore the other 703 starters, plus special teamers every year? Sure, offensive linemen are not under consideration, as are many other positions. But thinking this is big news is ridiculous. Gronk would never play on a team without Brady. Just watch. If Gronk is still playing when Brady retires, they will retire together.

  15. To allege that Tom Brady is the MVP because “he’s done it with injured players all year” ignores the fact that the Green Bay offensive line has consisted of 2nd and 3rd stringers virtually ALL SEASON. Aaron Jones has missed time, Zadarius Smith hasn’t played since week 1, all-pro Jaire Alexander has been out most of the season, Robert Tonyan is out for the season. Aaron Rodgers has played with AT LEAST as many reserves as has Tom Brady and he is AT LEAST as smart a field general and AT LEAST as accurate a passer.
Aaron Rodgers angered me and many others because of his COVID stance but MVP is about WHAT YOU DO ON THE FIELD. Rodgers is the clear MVP!

  16. Yeah, he really should have won the year he told his guys you have to be faster. But they weren’t, so he tucked his tail and ran to Tampa where there were much faster guys.

Actually, the great Belichek refused to resign him

  18. I’m fine with Brady not being the regular season MVP as long as he’s again the Super Bowl MVP.

  19. By every QB stat, Brady should be the MVP. Rodgers has one more win but his other stats are nowhere as good as Brady’s or a couple of other QBs.

And Gronk is right, PFF did a statistical analysis for the last decade for QBs:
Brady came in #1, Brees #2, and Rodgers #3.

But as a Brady homer, I’m ok if Brady only wins the SB MVP this year. Let the regular season awards got to mere mortals.

  21. Definitely not 2019! 24 tds and 8 picks do not stack up against Lamar’s 36 and 6. Unanimous!

  22. Yeah Gronk, and just like you getting military USAA insurance, it ain’t gonna happen.

  23. Given that Brady leads the NFL in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns…

And not just this season. Brady leads the NFL in those categories careerwise. This would be akin to Hank Aaron leading MLB in HRs at age 44 — in other words, pure fantasy.

Brady has 12 interceptions….I believe Rogers has only 4

It’s a team sport. Every HOF QB (including Brady) has had a good team around them to help win a super bowl. That’s something Belichick detractors and Brady detractors (such as yourself and TB6) refuse to accept.

I’m a diehard Pats and TB12 fan, and I don’t know anyone who thinks TB12 is literally the only good qb in the nfl. Perhaps you should be more greatful for what he contributed to the team instead of remaining bitter and denigrating his (and by extension, the Patriots) achievements since 2001.

I’m not disputing that. What I am disputing is “Brady can win without a defense”.

When has he ever done that?

  28. Only way you can stop him.

Then why does he have a 1-3 Playoffs QB record? I have no issues with Jackson. The dude can ball.

He’s currently on the Cam Newton career track, but ok.
