Buffalo weather forecast for Patriots-Bills has single-digit temperatures, chance of snow

The first time the Patriots and Bills met in Buffalo this season, the weather played a huge part in the result of the game, with the Patriots throwing the ball only three times in windy conditions and winning with a run-heavy game plan. When the Patriots and Bills meet again in Buffalo on Saturday night, the weather may also be a factor.

The National Weather Service currently calls for a 30 percent chance of snow on Saturday in Buffalo, with a high temperature near 14 degrees and a low around 5.

The game kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET in Buffalo, and it should be a bitterly cold night. There’s no indication of winds anywhere near as strong as in the previous game, however, and so passing and kicking likely won’t be affected to the same extent.

In the Bills-Patriots rematch in New England two weeks after that windy night, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones played one of his worst games of the season. So the Patriots may prefer a run-heavy game plan against the Bills, whether the weather forces it on them or not.

  1. The Pats are outmatched…..but if they can keep it close they have a chance. Let’s just hope Baramore can play

  2. The confidence in Mac Jones is hysterical. He is just good enough to keep NE drafting in the mid teens for the next decade.

  3. Huge Pats fan here…..BUT a realist, Pats have no shot against the Bills on Saturday. Defense’s know how to play Jones now, Pats defense is a shell of what we thought it was, which was a falsehood. We made the playoffs, the questions are….Is Mac Jones really the answer OR does he not have legitimate weapons?

  4. We are about to see if Josh Allen and Buffalo are the real deal or pretenders. The Patriots have a rookie QB and a young team so all the pressure is on Buffalo.

  5. NFL football is SO much better in the elements. Game was meant to be played outside. No fake grass/carpet and fake noise. Love it. And, yes, stay off my lawn!

  6. Pats have a chance and will cheat if needed…..history of it….remember. Looking forward to a Bills win.

  7. Yes it will be freezing but otherwise fine. Not much wind to speak of and even if it does snow a little, that shouldn’t affect the Bills much. It’s high wind and rain that gives them problems. Looking forward to the game, I will be there so I wish it was scheduled for Sunday. Will be much warmer the following day, but what are you gonna do.

Um.. the Bills finished ONE game better.

I mean, far be it for me to disagree – but I do. Of course they have a shot, and a good one.

The Bills are a better team, but not by a mile. Allen is the better QB, and BB is the better coach. The latter is significant. No other coach has even a fraction of BB’s playoff experience.

He’s cooking up something right now. I don’t know if it will be enough, but it’s enough for me to have concern.

As to the article, weather shouldn’t be a factor. Wind & rain are the only things that really affects games significantly, imo.

  10. Pats need to clamp down on Diggs and not let Allen scramble and they can win. Even the Bills win wasn’t that decisive.
The Bills lost to the Jags (recall NE put up 50 points): the Bills are all over the place. Allen threw 3 picks against the Jets then was mediocre against the Skins, except for some huge runs. It depends which Josh Allen shows up for the game.

  11. Mac Jones has played in the College National Championship (won) so he’s no stranger to big games, despite being a rookie. Expect Josh McD and BB to keep him mentally grounded for the game.

  12. “In the Bills-Patriots rematch in New England two weeks after that windy night, Patriots quarterback Mac Jones played one of his worst games of the season” Ummm… or the Bills Defense is good.( # 1 ) Overall Comp % 56%, Yds per Att 5.7, Gave up the fewest yds passing, Fewest Passing Tds and QBs had a combined passer rating of 65.3 against the Bills. and ALL Pro CB Tre White has been on IR. This defense needs to be recognized. Zero players selected to the Pro Bowl on defense. DC Leslie Frazier should be on every interview list for HC positions, but The Bills D doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Teams always just have “Bad Games” when they play Buffalo.

  13. Allen threw 3 picks against the Jets then was mediocre against the Skins
    ——–
3 picks against the Falcons, mediocre against the Jets. Got to correct my own posts.

  14. The Bills have been very inconsistent all year. If they show up focused and playing their best, they should win. If not, the Pats will quickly pounce on any mistakes, mental or weather related

  15. I think that the Pats are a much better cold/bad weather team than the Bills are. I still think the Pats have a shot.

  16. Low temperatures are easier to deal with than wind. Both teams should be able to pass weather wise. Mac is going to have to throw the ball at least 20 times to keep because 14 points likely won’t do it this game.

  17. I can remember when we had real snow games as early as November now were lucky if we get one
which is sad they are the most fun and memorable games.

I don’t think the weather will be bad enough to cancel the game. That’s what you meant, right?

The 3-pick game looked bad in the stats – but it was 2 tipped balls, and then a clear PI against Beasley that took him out of the route.

I don’t put much weight on “common opponent” comparisons. If the Bills played the Jags 10 times, they probably win 9 and 7 are a blowout.

I could counter that the Bills swept the Dolphins, w/ one by a significant margin, while the Pats were unable to beat that team.

But you’re not wrong overall. There are paths to victory for NE that don’t require getting breaks or luck.

  20. This is when football is fun to watch.Every hit hurts, balls swirling in the air, yard markers are non existant, fans are pouring hot chocolate into their pants, beer is very very cold, toes take weeks to thaw out, its absolutely miserable out there and you get to drive home is this crapola too. Wow life is good! LOL

  21. I am from a cold city and love to see football played in harsh environments but I wonder why the league picked a game in Buffalo in mid-January to be the one played at night. IMO this game should have been put in the 1pm slot, with maybe a little sun to give them a couple of extra-degrees and to give the fans a break….

  22. The Patriots to me are almost just like the Bills were a few years ago before Josh Allen became JOSH ALLEN. Both not ready for prime time just yet but still fundamentally well coached and tries to win with defense and running not so much by the passing game. Bills pushed the Texans to the limit in their playoff game. That was fun to watch.

Let’s see if NE does the same thing to the Bills here.

  23. Is Mac Jones really the answer

We won’t know that for a while.

Same is true for Lawrence and most of the other guys in their rookie class.

If we’re looking for Brady 2.0 – that has zero chance of happening.

    LOL, perfect.

Cold weather coming gives the Pats fans just enough false hope to confuse temperature with hurricane strength winds.
I think I’ll take the Bills number one defense….and….. Allen/Diggs/Knox/Davis/Singletary.

  25. The Bills are more likely to win, but certainly not 100% – isn’t that why they play the game?

Anyway, it’s not like they’re going to win the Super Bowl. They’ll just end up without a SB win (like the Pats), but with a poorer draft position.

Josh Allen when it’s 31 degrees or colder
    5 games
    Record 3-2
    CMP% 50.3
    YPG: 166.6
    TD: 6
    INT: 7

    Must be more “false hope”

  27. I’m just hoping for a close competitive game…. Weather usually helps teams that play other teams from indoor venues…. The weather shouldn’t be a factor for one team more than the other but it does effect the mental toughness of BOTH teams so there is that….all teams left are 0-0 & really, ANYTHING can happen….If the Bills beat us I’m a Bills fan till they win it all or get bounced (then I’m just an AFC FAN) from that point….I’d honestly love to see the Pats go on some type of miracle run & see Mac as the 1st ROOKIE QB to play/win a SuperBowl but like I said, that would take a miracle….. Mac’s just getting started & he needs some young explosive talent to throw to & him being on a rookie contract & the Pats not having to give away the farm to land him(nothing actually), there’s time & ammunition to do that in the near future…..which to be honest looks very exciting!!!
ESTABLISH a new NFL RECORD w/MAC!!!!
    GO PATS!!!!

Hmmm….you kind of contradict yourself here. Why aren’t they going to win the Super Bowl? Isn’t that why they play the games, as you alluded to?

It doesn’t feel like their SB year (it did preseason, but they’ve been very inconsistent). But it’s also a weird year, with no clear faves. Any one of these teams can get on a roll in the playoffs – the Pats, Bills or anyone.

There isn’t any team I can think of that should be heavily favored against the Bills. If they make it as far as the AFCCG or SB, they can win.

  29. Bills finally got a good QB, the Bills are now 3-1 vs the Pats since Brady left. That’s not a GREAT record. Is it Belichicks fault? McDermott is currently winning the Belichik v Mcdermott battle

  30. “The Bills lost to the Jags (recall NE put up 50 points):”

Patriots got swept by the Dolphins. Bills swept the dolphins by 48 points. And the jags just beat the Colts. Your point has no value. Go Bills.

    — Not a contradiction, just an opinion. Really directed at the fans that think it’s a slam dunk. It anything last weekend proved that any team a can beat any other team. Many fail to see than the difference between most teams is not that great. (Doesn’t apply to the Jets. 🙂 )

  32. No that’s it’s playoffs, would like to see the full Josh Allen. Let the guy run, I think we know by now he is very durable and huge, don’t worry about him getting hurt. If Bills ran JA like Baltimore does with LJ it’s going to be very hard to stop. RPOs and tons of play fakes. Run Josh!
