Aaron Rodgers bests Tom Brady as first-team All-Pro quarterback

In what becomes the clearest hint at the outcome of the voting for the Associated Press MVP award, which will come from the same 50 voters, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named on Friday the first-team AP All-Pro over Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

The vote was 34 for Rodgers, 16 for Brady.

It’s hard to imagine anyone voting for one as the first-team All-Pro and the other as the MVP. With no non-quarterback ultimately emerging as a viable MVP alternative, it’s unlikely that it will be a non-quarterback. It’s likely that it will be Rodgers.

Rodgers has expressed pessimism that he’ll win the MVP award, believing that the “woke mob” will vote for someone else because of his vaccination status. Hub Arkush, one of the 50 voters, said last week that he won’t vote for Rodgers for reasons unrelated to on-field football performance.

Of course, Rodgers likely will reserve the right to argue that the 16 who didn’t vote for him were motivated by reasons other than football. Then again, chances are he would have been unsatisfied with anything other than a 50-0 outcome.

  1. Imagine voting for Tommy when it was his shutout against the powerful Taysom Hill Saints that kept his team out of the 1 seed. LOL

The question is will Tommy see this and throw more tablets than people who voted for him? 😀

  2. All pro is more specifically ‘on the field’. MVP van involve intangibles attached to the stats.

  3. This will make Aaron happy and secure. He knows he won’t be getting any more SB rings as long as Tom is around

  4. 34 voters just do not care if someone is not truthful. That says alot about someone.
Saddens me. What we hold up on a pedestal could just be a mirage.

  5. It’s not a debate…Aaron is the best QB on the planet.

Aaron and his teammates have bigger goals.

  6. I’m sure Tom is fine with that. Brady would much rather win Super Bowls. Rodgers has always been the “me” QB.

  7. That’s fair. You can make an argument in Brady’s favor based on a number of individual stats, but ultimately, one of them earned a bye week for his team going into the playoffs and the other didn’t.

He’s got 1 ring. Brady has 7,and going for an 8th. I agree that Rodgers is better than Brady this season, but best on the planet? No.

  9. Aaron has never been shut out when he played a full game, either.

So he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

  10. The accolades in Green Bay can sometimes be overwhelming and truly humbling.

    Better football……..

    ……for better people.

You’re right, it’s not a debate. Tom Brady has 6 Super Bowl titles, the most passing yards, completions, touchdown passes and wins in the regular season and playoffs. Oh, he also threw for another 42 touchdowns this year compared to Rodger’s 37. They are both great quarterbacks, but Brady is the goat.

  12. No problem with this – what Brady did at 44 years old was far more impressive but it is what it is. When Rodgers and the Pack inevitably fall short in the SB are we going to blame everyone else but Rodgers? Remember one of the reasons he will (likely) win the MVP is because GB secured the number one seed. Anything short of winning the SB would be underachieving.

  13. AR throws a football well.
it’s too bad he gets asked questions on matters of public health….or anything else

  14. Aaron Rodgers and ‘Bests’ Tom Brady should never be in the same sentence. These are the garbage awards that Aaron is great at obtaining. Let’s see what happens in the playoffs. Aaron will choke just like he did last year. The only award that matters is SB MVP and championship titles!

    Brady 7
    Rodgers 1

Stuff the garbage stats, that’s not what great QB’s are remembered by!

  16. Tom Brady is a postseason All-Pro quarterback. Rodgers has no idea what that even means.

  17. I think the reason Brady didn’t get more votes was the fact Tampa had some of its lackluster performances coming down the home stretch of the season. The New Orleans game where Tampa got shut out hurt his chances. And he threw 12 picks this year.
But Brady had a phenomenal season. Just not as phenomenal as Rodgers.

  18. Hub, like the Bears he has covered for decades, will be on the losing side of this one, too.

    It’s classic!

  19. I like that Rogers didn’t bow down to The Man. I think Brady is better but have no problem with Rogers winning everything this year.

  20. 2016

    Rodgers 4428 yards, 40 TD, 7 int, 104.2 rating
    Brady 3554 yards, 28 TD, 2 int, 112.2 rating

    Aaron Rodgers won the MVP.

Brady has taken the franchise with the worst W-L % in NFL history to a SB championship (yr 1) and tied for NFL best record (yr 2), and the MVP in not one but BOTH of these years is supposedly the same player on another team. Tell me again what the criteria are supposed to be….

  21. And, Rodgers isn’t even top 10 of all time. His record in conference championship games is even worse than Peyton Manning’s.

  22. When Rodgers and the Pack inevitably fall short in the SB are we going to blame everyone else but Rodgers?
    ==========

I don’t know how anyone who’s watched the Packers the last 14 years can draw the conclusion Rodgers is the reason they haven’t won more Championships.

  23. MVP award is a regular season award and Rodgers deserves it. He once said playing in the regular season is to earn your paycheck but the postseason is where you build your legacy. Time will tell.

  24. He covets personal awards as long as the spotlight is only on him he’s happy great player sure but as a human being there are few worse he suffers from the me me / liar disease.

I’m not sure, but Matt Ryan won in 2016.

  26. Was Rodgers most valuable when he wouldn’t run the ball at the end of the NFCCG last year?
Here is something you can bet the house on, when it matters most, he’ll let you down.
He is not a winner. He’s an awesome athlete, but not a WINNER

  27. I think Brady is a great QB, but every time he doesn’t win something his fans get defensive and bitter. It’s weird.

  28. Was Rodgers most valuable when he wouldn’t run the ball at the end of the NFCCG last year?
    ===========

He was most valuable when he hit a wide open Allen Lazard on 1st-and-goal at the 8 for the go-ahead score.

… oh, scratch that. Lazard wasn’t looking for the ball.

  29. Here is something you can bet the house on, when it matters most, he’ll let you down.
    He is not a winner.

    Post-season passer rating – 100.5, 4th in NFL history, #2 active

So how many QBs would have given the Packers a better chance to win?

  30. They’re both great QBs who had awesome seasons. Brady is my favorite player of all time, but Rodgers was a bit better than him this season. Just because someone doesn’t win first team all pro or MVP doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Hell Brady got 2nd team all pro, which at his age is super impressive.

  31. Rodgers wins awards, Brady wins championships.

Brady takes these snubs as motivation to win. Go ahead and give Rodgers the MVP. Tom will knock Aaron out of the playoffs on his way to win another Super Bowl to prove everyone wrong. That’s what he does to motivate himself.

  32. That’s fine, same as last year, Rodgers can have his regular season glory and Brady is focused on his SB MVP. You guys see the difference, Brady has not even mentioned the word MVP or any awards, Rodgers been talking about the MVP award since mid-season lol.

  33. Icouldn’t care less. If the Rodgers lovers and Brady lovers want to fight over this, knock yourselves out. I am a Brady fan, but I don’t care if he makes first or second All Pro. Glad he made All Pro. That’s all .

  34. They say defense wins championships. Now try and argue that Rodgers has played on teams with better defenses than Tom Brady.

The 1 yr GB had a top 5 defense the Packers and Rodgers won the SB. Brady spent most of his career with a coach who considered one of the best defensive minds of the SB era in Belichick and last year Todd Bowles who is also considered one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL.

    He’s 38 years old.
Time has told, and his legacy is vastly inferior to Brady’s. To wit, just to match Brady’s ring total, Rodgers would have to have win the next six consecutive Super Bowls. And note ring #7 would occur at age 44 as well.
Yeah, that’s not going to happen.
But the extra MVP trophies are nice…

  36. Can’t believe ALLSTATE continues to allow a liar to represent it. Perhaps it lies like AR…

  37. It boggles the mind that Brady first year in the NFC has the same number of SB win as Brees and Rodgers who played in the NFC for decade plus and won only one SB each. Now Brees is retired and here is Brady gunning for a second SB win. Maybe Rodgers will edge Brady this year and win his second SB. It’s unthinkable that Brady will win again.

  38. The Brady fanboy tears are delicious. And Rodgers doesn’t have to cheat.
    —————

Neither did Brady. Who is crying?

  39. Brady 35 playoff wins
    Rodgers 11 playoff wins

Whose the best QB on the planet? This “new math” has me baffled.
