The Bears didn’t have any playoff obligations on Saturday, so they spent the day trying to find a new head coach and General Manager.

The team announced the completion of three interviews on Saturday night. Former Lions and Colts head coach Jim Caldwell and Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett interviewed for the head coaching job while Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort interviewed for the G.M. position.

Caldwell’s presence in the search isn’t a great surprise. Former Colts G.M. Bill Polian is consulting with the Bears on their search and the two men worked together in Indianapolis.

Caldwell has also interviewed with the Jaguars while Hackett is on the list in Jacksonville and Denver. Ossenfort has also interviewed with the Giants.

  1. Gosh, I hope they take Caldwel, Then the Vikings won’t! old We don’t want any of the old time leftovers. Go for a young Kellen Moore!

  2. If they weren’t the Bears and have the name this would be one of the worse jobs in football. Owners have no patience. Dick Jauron, Lovie Smith and Nagy all won Coach of the Year and all have been fired. As a Packer fan I love it. Nagy wasn’t your problem, your drafting was. How many 1st rounders did Pace hit on?

  3. I don’t disagree about the poor drafting by Pace but I do disagree about Nagy, he was a big problem. Opposing defenses had him solved mid way through his first year. Tell me this – if Hackett is hired away from Green Bay, would you want Nagy to take his place? As a Bears fan, I would.

  4. Bears have brought in Bill Polian to lead the search for new g.m. & head coach..Polian will undoubtedly recommend some of his previous cronies (Caldwell being one of them)…

  5. The Bears and Vikings need some young innovative head coaches, not a bunch of has beens who will then hire their old buddies as coordinators and basically come up with the same results.

  6. We all know why Caldwell gets interviews

For taking a team to the Super Bowl?

For taking the Lions to the Playoffs? Which is like WINNING a Super Bowl.
