Saturday morning’s been a busy time for the Vikings’ head coaching search.

Word of interview requests have been coming fast and furious as Wild Card weekend gets underway. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is on the list while his colleague Jeremy Fowler reports Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell has also received a request.

Moore has interviewed with the Jaguars and the Broncos have also asked to speak with him. The Broncos have also requested an interview with O’Connell. Both coaches can interview after their current teams play games in the Wild Card round.

The Vikings have also requested interviews with Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.

  1. I don’t get the infatuation with Kellen Moore. And please not Dan Quinn, talk about uninspired.

  2. Whoever they hire the first thing they’ll say is; “He was our first choice all along.”

  3. Quinn, Flores, Bowles are all no’s. I don’t mind giving HC’s a second chance, but these guys were horrible.

Isn’t that what most teams in all sports do, and have almost always done in similar situations?

  5. How many times have we seen coordinators have one hot year and then fail miserably when they have all the HC responsibilities? TV exposure doesn’t also mean competence.

  6. Why the heck isn’t Bienemy on this list? So weird considering he started his NFL career with the Vikings and used to be an assistant head coach for them…the Wilfs are either to far removed from the day to day or someone inside the front office thinks he’s not a good choice – which is it?

  7. Why the heck isn’t Bienemy on this list?

Because he’s the same guy as Nagy – worked with Reid but didn’t call plays. I hope to God the Bears aren’t even considering Bienemy. Same with Ireland, no thanks.

  8. Still think it will be either Doug Pederson or Brian Daboll. Although Nathan Hackett would be an interesting pick as well.

  9. If we’ve learned anything over the last 62 years, it’s that it’s very hard to find good help in MN.

  10. Why are you requesting so many coaching interviews without the GM decided?

If I was a Viking fan I’d be worried.
