Maxx Crosby: Rich Bisaccia one of a kind, the best man for the job

Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby said it was “tough” to hear that the team fired General Manager Mike Mayock on Monday and he’d like to see the team avoid making the same decision regarding interim head coach Rich Bisaccia.

Crosby noted on The Rich Eisen Show that Mayock drafted him in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and “looked out for me” during his first three years in the NFL, which made it hard to hear that he’d lost his job. He also sang Bisaccia’s praises and echoed quarterback Derek Carr‘s belief that he should get the job on a permanent basis.

“Rich is one of a kind,” Crosby said. “Everybody’s been asking, what’s going to happen? Everybody knows my vote. I made that very clear. I love Rich. I think he’s the best man for the job. He’s come in and done such an amazing job. We won 10 games with a team that’s had tragedy, loss, everything you could imagine. And he’s found a way to get a group of guys to come together and win football games in January and December, which is rare. Rich is the real deal, he’s a leader of men. That’s all you can ask for.”

The Raiders have requested an interview with Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo as they work through the process of deciding on who will be coaching the team next season. The players’ opinions will likely reach team owner Mark Davis, but it remains to be seen if they’ll carry the day.

  1. I thought he was in over his head IMO , that being said Harbaugh is the right man for the job just look what he did with the 9’ers. Get a #1 receiver a couple of offensive lineman another pass rusher and a couple cornerbacks via draft and free agent..we are only a few players away from catching the HATED CHIEFS, crack the checkbook open and let Harbaugh choose his men but keep Rich as specials teams coach/assistant manager.

  2. Bisaccia is clearly deserving of getting the job on a permanent basis. The players like and respect him and he’s a WINNER! If Davis doesn’t give Rich the job someone else should. They have the best guy for the job right there in the building already. What are they waiting for! Stupid if they don’t hire him for the job.

  3. Davis would be wise to keep Rich around at least for next year. They played hard for him after Gruden left. They are on the cusp of being a perennial playoff contender. Upset the applecart now and back to the cellar they go for another 10 years.

  4. There was no pressure in him to win. It’s totally different when you start a new season and expectations are 100% on him.

Let’s not forget Freddie Kitchens, Mike Singletary, etc, etc, etc. Short-sided owners bending the knee to a few players.

This guy is a blip on the screen of head coaches. They made one right move by firing Mayock, who should have never been GM in the first place. It’s time to find a real coach.
