The Panthers interviewed Colts running backs Scottie Montgomery a second time for their vacant offensive coordinator job, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. Montgomery’s initial interview was virtual. Today, they met in person.

The Panthers are seeking to replace Joe Brady, who they fired during the season.

Montgomery joined the Colts’ staff before the 2021 season and helped Jonathan Taylor earn All-Pro honors. Montgomery had stints as the offensive coordinator at Maryland and Duke sandwiched around a three-year run as the head coach at East Carolina.

He also spent three years on Mike Tomlin’s staff as the Steelers’ receivers coach earlier in his career.

The Panthers finished 30th in total offense, including 29th in passing, as they started Sam Darnold, PJ Walker and Cam Newton at quarterback.

  1. Rhule will always be a problem in Carolina. He is not an NFL Head Coach and is lost into the coaching abyss. It is what it is and the sooner he is fired the better it will be for Panthers fans.

  2. Well first it was Brady, then Nixon and now this guy is getting his second interview. I hope you have the offensive line fixed before you hire anyone. Give them a chance instead of setting them up for failure. In my opinion the WRs need to learn to catch a ball as well. My point is you have many problems to fix on that side of the ball.

  3. Don’t forget Tepper. There isn’t one change for the better he has made since he bought the team. Unless you count the Welcome to the Jungle / Make some noise!! being blasted through the speakers on 2nd and 11 midway through the first Q.
