The Vikings completed an interview with Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, the team announced Wednesday. Earlier in the day, the Vikings conducted a virtual interview with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is the other NFL assistant to interview with the Vikings in their search to replace Mike Zimmer.

The Vikings have conducted six virtual interviews with G.M. candidates to replace Rick Spielman.

Moore, who has four years of NFL coaching experience, has spent the past three seasons as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator. He led the top-ranked total offense and top-ranked scoring offense in 2021, though they managed only 17 points and 307 yards in the wild card loss to the 49ers on Sunday.

Moore, 33, is a former Boise State and NFL quarterback who joined Dallas’ coaching staff in 2018 as the quarterbacks coach. He quickly was promoted to offensive coordinator.

During Moore’s time leading the offense, the Cowboys have had five players named to a combined seven Pro Bowls.

  1. If Moore gets an HC job he’ll last 2 years. TV over exposure doesn’t mean you can manage .

  2. Good. Take him. Get your overrated behind out of Dallas. Just another guy who is good at Xs and Os but can’t call a game if his life depended on it.

  3. Who would consider him for a HC job? Aikman put the whole Cowboy offensive scheme in a body bag recently. Awful.

  4. Apparently that brilliant end-of-game play call impressed them. Why am I not surprised? Vikings fans: My condolences.

  5. Not sure I am so enamored with Moore after the abysmal showing in the Wildcard game.
Again, my question on interviewing candidates (especially offensive) based on their numbers with their current team is “How much of their success is merely due to the TALENT they had on the team they were with?

If you came into a team and (with the same talent) the were 30th in the league and by your coaching and scheming took them to top 10, then I say “Yep, that’s a good coach”

But we get all excited about a defensive coordinator on a team loaded with top picks.
Or an offensive coordinator who has a Dak Prescott or Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady as their QB.

    I think it’s trouble waiting to happen….

  6. Young, but good! I truly think the last play the Cowboys did was on Dak not on Moore. Dak panicked and ran, it wasn’t a called play. The players also botched up a play that would have become a td earlier in the game.

I still think this kid is the NFL’s future and the Vikings should grab him. No more retreads, take a chance and give him the future. He’s what the NFL is going to become, Smart and Aggressive!

  7. Only 33 years of life experience of which 4 were spent coaching in the NFL. Combined with a baby face look and last weeks debacle should be too much to overcome. I can’t see him landing a head coaching gig at this time. He may be a really good coach at some point in the future but he’s not going to be able to lead and command the respect of 53 grown men at this point. Vikings should pass. The Dallas fan base would gladly pay his salary to have him leave.

  8. Why am I not seeing Brian Daboll mentioned with the Vikings? He just delivered the first ever perfect game and against Belicheck no less.

  9. No thanks. After the final playcall last Sunday and Troy Aikman’s criticism I’d stay away from this guy.

  10. Seriously? Don’t give the best practice facility, players, and fans his to control! Of the team franchises looking for new blood at the coaching and GM positions, this one is first prize. Take your time and make it the right choice!

Take your time and make it the right choice!____________ I couldn’t have said it better myself. The Vikings have all of the resources and tools to be champions, we can’t waste this opportunity on an overhyped coach from Dallas.
