Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski is already one of the most productive receivers in NFL postseason history, and he’s not done yet.

In the Bucs’ wild-card round win over the Eagles, Gronkowski moved ahead of Reggie Wayne into No. 3 in NFL history with 94 receptions in the postseason. Only Jerry Rice (151 career postseason catches) and Julian Edelman (118) have more.

And in Sunday’s game against the Rams, Gronkowski is almost certain to move into third place all-time for postseason receiving yards. Gronkowski currently has 1,304 receiving yards in his postseason career. Michael Irvin is currently third with 1,315 career postseason receiving yards, so Gronk needs just 12 yards on Sunday to surpass Irvin. With a very big game, Gronk could also surpass Edelman, who’s No. 2 all-time with 1,442 postseason receiving yards. Jerry Rice has the all-time record with 2,245 postseason receiving yards. Rice’s record is out of reach.

Gronkowski is No. 2 in NFL history with 15 postseason touchdown passes. Only Rice, with 22, has more.

Gronk has had one of the best playoff careers in NFL history.

  1. Like him or hate him if you don’t double team him Brady has no problem putting it in the spot where only he can get it. Also most times first guy just slows him down so 2nd guy can bring him down.
Also smart enough to beat any zone

  2. Gronk is the greatest tight end of all time, and it’s not even close. You would want to have this guy on your playoff team before anyone else at the same position.

  3. Gronk could easily be a hall of fame left tackle if he wanted. Not many blockers better than him come to mind. Staggering how good he is.

  4. He can’t beat Jerry Rice’s playoff records and he can’t get SafePilot, but outside of those he pretty much handles anything that needs to be handled.

  5. I recall that Gronk actually missed a few playoff games because of injuries. That makes his numbers even more impressive.

  6. If they go deep this year, and come back next year, he can catch Rice in TDs and yards with some luck. Not likely in catches though

Puts in perspective just how amazing Rice was

And Jerry Rice played when you could hit and grab a receiver before the ball was in the air.

  8. The New emgland fan base supported this guy even though he was on IR with full pay every time you turned your head. Then bails into a fake retirement only to pop back up in Tampa with Tom.No loyalty to his fans. Didnt feel right.

  9. Whats amazing is that one of the two guys ahead of him (the other being Jerry freaking Rice) is a guy that played alongside him for most of his career. Thats a ton of postseason receptions going on to feed both of them.

He also played when you could use stickem

  11. I understand he is considering joining the military once his career ends so that he can qualify for insurance.
