Safety Devin McCourty wrapped up his 12th season with the Patriots in last Saturday’s loss to the Bills and the end of the season also marked the end of his contract.

It could also mark the end of his career. On the podcast that he hosts with his brother Jason, McCourty said that he’s not going to “think about football for at least a month or two” before considering whether to continue playing in the NFL.

“I haven’t had a dropoff in athletic ability and the physical traits to play the game. So it all really comes down to mentally and being ready and being able to tap back in and go through a full season,” McCourty said, via NESN.com. “I think those are the things you have to think about. But I’m definitely going to take my time and see what happens for the future. I try not to say, ‘I’ll never do this’ or ‘I’m only going to do that’ and just kind of let it play itself out and see how it goes.”

McCourty called the 47-17 loss to the Bills frustrating, but said that he thinks the Patriots’ future is “really bright on what they’ll be able to develop and accomplish in the years coming.” Based on the timeline McCourty laid out, it will be a while before we know if New England goes back to being a we in his mind.

  1. Maybe he stays, but one would think he’ll have to play on the cheap. Hightower was key over the last decade, but my guess it that he won’t be back. Same with Collins and possibly Van Noy. JC Jackson is not a #1 corner, but a #2. Hard to see how they keep him. Lots more rebuilding to do. This is the most significant reason why Brady left– no way he was gonna win another Super Bowl with the roster that emerged from 2018-2019. Bill knew that, too.

JC lost himself a big offseason payday the other night. Can’t see him realistically getting elite #1 money now.

  3. Come back on a one year deal team friendly deal otherwise thanks for the memories.

For what? to see Belichick fully exposed?

With Brady, BeliCHEAP would be able to spend all the resource to improve defense, and his believers would talk about how great he was and how he put together a SB contender. BeliCHEAP will be fully exposed next season when he has to upgrade both defense and offense.

Brady is nothing without Belichick or an all star team around him.

And of course cheating. He’s nothing without that either.

Watch Brady’s 700th TD, the TD in OT against Bills.

Figure out how Brady got Breshad Perriman wide wide open. AFTER you figure it out, watch SB 2002, watch those completed passes by Brady. In at least 3 of them, Brady used the same skill.

Belichick? he doesn’t even have clue of what was going on, otherwise he wouldn’t dare to drive Brady out.
