Raiders defensive back Nate Hobbs was cited for driving 110 mph in on a Nevada highway two weeks after being charged with DUI, KLAS Las Vegas reports.

Nevada State Police stopped Hobbs at 11:45 a.m. Sunday and charged him with reckless driving for excess speed in a 65-mph zone. He was not arrested, but Hobbs’ car was towed.

He is scheduled to appear in court in April.

Hobbs was booked for misdemeanor DUI on Jan. 3 after failing a field sobriety test. Las Vegas police said in a statement they received a call about a driver asleep inside a parked vehicle, and an officer found the rookie defensive back asleep behind the wheel of his Mercedes SUV on a parking garage exit ramp.

Hobbs’ arrest came only weeks after a woman was killed in a crash that resulted in another Raiders player, Henry Ruggs, being charged with DUI causing death and substantial bodily injury and two counts of reckless driving. The Raiders quickly cut Ruggs.

The Raiders also waived cornerback Damon Arnette last year after he displayed a gun and made threats in a video following a high-speed crash near the team practice facility. Arnette signed a reserve/futures contract with the Chiefs this week.

  1. In a vacuum, doing 110mph on a Nevada desert road is nothing, really. But 2 weeks after a DUI? Not very bright…

  2. Some players have organic mental health issues, some have issues arising from traumatic brain injuries and some just have a sense of entitlement and invincibility attributable to youth and a lifetime of coddling. The selfish fools in the latter category have no excuses and just don’t care about the well being of others or the possibility that they are going to blow their blessed existence. If Hobbs couldn’t learn a thing from the many lives ruined by Henry Ruggs, he too will eventually ruin his life or someone else’s.

  3. I really thought Vegas would present more unique concerns to the visiting teams than the home team, but that has clearly not been the case so far…

  4. Nate Hobbs refuses to learn from his teammates Henry Ruggs and Josh Jacobs. This is what makes a man a fool. A man who sees and is taught the right way and then walks away and does his own thing. Hobbs is a ticking time bomb and the next headline he makes may announce his demise. This saddens me man.

  5. 3 draft picks taken with no consideration for character or intelligence.
Some things about the Raiders never change regardless of location

I imagine that most teams, for a Sunday game would fly into Vegas late Friday, have a team meal and meetings in the hotel, perhaps a bed check, then Saturday team breakfast, walkthrough, meetings, team dinner, dessert, team meeting, maybe a team movie, then bed check – all of this being in the hotel, on floors that are sealed off from the public. Not much free time, or time to one’s self to get into mischief.

  7. LOL of course the Chiefs signed Damon Arnette. Andy Reid does not care what his players do off the field as long as they play ball Sundays.

  8. ‘The Last Boy Scout’ vibes all over the Raiders franchise. “Ain’t life a …..”

  9. This guy is one of the better corners in the league as a rookie and can only get better from here. He is in line for a mega contract.

Doesn’t seem he wants to make it to his first real payday.

I don’t think these were known issues coming out, not really fair to blame this on the Raiders, very unfortunate these guys can’t mature though.

  11. Wasn’t this in the back of everyone’s mind when it was announced that Vegas was getting a professional football team?

  12. Young guys in Vegas? What could go wrong? I am sure the draft will bring some surprises also.

  13. Another Mayock special.

Mike went on tv and talked about how he deferred to the Raiders DB coach and other scouts..

Classic case of delegation becoming dereliction of duty.

  14. This kid is either incredibly stupid…seriously the low IQ kind of stupid…or he is an incredibly uncaring person. You have to feel bad for the Raiders organization, as a whole, to have an individual like this representing their team and their city.

  15. First year in LV: One dead, two DUI’s, weapons charges and uncontrolled speeding. It only gets better from here!

  16. Maybe when he’s dealt with all of his legal problems, the Chiefs will sign him, too. You can’t fix stupid.

  17. Talk about clueless. He obviously didn’t learn from the Ruggs situation. He obviously didn’t learn from getting arrested for DUI. He needs to sit in jail for a few weeks to think about his life’s decisions before someone else pays for his mistake like in the first incident mentioned above. It just amazes me how little regard these guys have for anyone other than themselves.

  18. It would be nice for once if one of these NFL players who drive recklessly ends up killing himself.

  19. He should have been in jail then this never would have happened. Good thing he didn’t kill anyone.

  20. You could have everything you ever dreamed of young man. Reach out to Waller and Crosby. They can show you the way.
