Report: Multiple teams have called Raiders about Derek Carr

More teams are searching for a franchise quarterback than there are franchise quarterbacks. That’s why the Commanders have spoken to every team that might have one available.

It’s also why “multiple teams” have expressed interest in Derek Carr, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Carr is entering the final year of the five-year, $125 million extension he signed in 2017, and new coach Josh McDaniels acknowledged this week that the team has had no extension talks with the quarterback’s representation.

As long as Carr’s contract remains as is, the Raiders likely continue to get calls about his availability.

He is scheduled to make $19.8 million in 2022, which ranks 15th among NFL quarterbacks.

  1. Given the trade capital needed for acquisition, I’d rather have Carr then Wilson or Rodgers.

  2. If Carr gets moved, not saying he will, but if he does the only 2 teams I see as possibilities are the Panthers and Washington

  3. Building up so hype as they want to dump Carr for another QB who wants to come to the Raiders.

  4. McDaniel’s and Ziegler are still setting up shop. They’re at the combine, free agency is right around the corner.

Part of why both are in LV is because there is already a QB to work with. Patience.

  5. DC is not going anywhere. He and Mark Davis are close. New deal comes soon. Wouldn’t be surprised to see DC last longer than this coaching staff!

  6. Carr wreck. He’s better than his brother. But he’s never going to be good enough to get your team past one and done in the playoffs.

  7. Wilson for Carr and a pick or two. Let the Raider pay Russ $50 million a year, Carr is a very low $30 million a year type guy that can work with a really good receivers.

  8. insanity…paying these guys ~$40M or whatever to play football…
no wonder America showed how stupid it is during the 2020 elections…voted us straight into economic he-double-ll and quite likely WW3….and yet so many remain absolutely clueless…lol!
We deserve what’s coming…and people being fine with these no real skill people making this type of money…meanwhile first responders, teachers, cops, fire fighters, struggle…insanity…both hilarious and sad…football player salaries are just a sign of a much bigger symptom…stupid USA.

  9. The presence of McDaniels will motivate and inspire him, so he will at least maintain the level of play he displayed in 2021. From there, I see the Raiders reaching the playoffs again in 2022.

  10. Unless they’re getting Wilson or Rodgers, they’d be crazy to trade Carr. No one in free agency or the draft is better than he already is.

  11. Carr isn’t going anywhere! He’ll get extended soon and the multi offers by other organizations shows what a great leader he is on and off the field. No way McDaniels comes to Vegas unless a QB of Carrs caliber is in place.

Like the majority of voters in 2016 got it right, het outta here with your brainwashed nonsense, I thought you people didn’t like the NFL

  13. Carr is good, puts up good numbers, but just isn’t good enough. He is what he is, another version of Kirk Cousins. With Herbert and Mahomes in the division, I would move on and start over.

  14. Brady and Gronk to the Raiders. Hurts and two first round picks to the Raiders for Carr. McDaniels gets Brady for a year then can work on Hurts.

    =====================

7.75 BILLION(!) people on earth and only 32 of them are good enough to QB an NFL football team. That’s far more exclusive than it is to be a national leader. It’s American capitalism at its finest. Supply and demand. If you don’t love America, leave it. I hear that Putin is hiring.

  16. Throw over 4500 yards on a depleted WR core, Carr’s going NOWHERE. Vegas will draft a WR and build the O-line. The Raiders can build something special if they draft right around Carr and make the D elite.

  17. Love Charger fan weighing in. Herbert is bound to be wasted by Staley until he gets fired and you all know it. 4th and 13 from your own 20; go for it! Hilarious!

  18. He’s currently making mid level qb pay and that pay level should stay right around there with a max of 30 mil per season. He absolutely has to leave a lot of $ behind to get players around him that are able to carry him. Carr is not the players that can carry a team to a SB win like a Rodgers can. Yes, he is the best option available right now but that’s not saying much about his ability to win a championship unless he makes it possible to bring good players to the team. If he makes that happen and wins even one SB all the haters will let bygones be bygones.

I’m sure you said the same thing about Matt Stafford as well.

  20. I dont think McDaniels moves on from Carr this early. Carr is good enough to get him enough wins to make it look like he knows what hes doing. He knows he cant afford to make the same mistake he made in Denver.

  21. If the Raiders trade away Carr, they go into complete rebuild mode. I’m not sure that’s a good idea, especially in a year without any great QB prospects in the draft.

  22. Everyone saying the Raidera won’t trade Carr are probably the same people that said Denver would not trade Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall when McDaniels got hired as a head coach the last time.

  23. The Raiders need OL, WR and DL and CB help. They need to get a number of their free agents back under contract this year and look to get Carr, Crosby and Renfrow under contract by the end of the season. Carr is very cheap at the moment.

Carr is good but 40 million, nah! Maybe 18 or 20, maybe!

    Carr > Dak

  25. Carr higher % completions than Brady, more yards than Burrow, despite missing Waller and Ruggs, yes he sucks. Extend him at least two years, and give him these years under McDaniels

Why would anyone want a QB with zero postseason wins ?

That’s not accurate and it’s just regurgitating the same tired stuff. 1st I’m not sure what you want to call “great” qb prospects as you have Pickett who is NFL ready now and a slightly better arm than Carr, Willis who admittedly is a yr away but has a cannon of an arm, better accuracy on his deep ball than is talked about and is just otherworldly type athleticism and then you have Corral who falls between the 2 with athleticism and his arm with the worry with him being going thru his progressions. Are any of them cant miss? No but very rarely are qbs labeled cant miss, even in a qb heavy draft last yr only Lawrence was thought of as such. Either way trading Carr isnt complete rebuild mode, it’s taking half a step back to try and go 2 forward. It wouldnt surprise to see Mariota or a Mariota type qb come in to try to bridge that 1 yr with a rookie on the bench if they traded Carr.

You mean the same number Stafford had before being traded to the Rams when you were likely using that same horrible argument?

That’s what you asked when the Rams acquired Matthew Stafford.
Yes, Rams fan here… no dog in this hunt at all. So from an observer, Derek Carr is a very good QB. He’s not an elite QB. But there’s a tier one notch down from elite, and QBs at that level have the chance of moving up that one notch. Carr is in that tier.

  30. Carr is not a bad qb but he is not great either. Widely known, he is SOFT. Maybe if he played for a real team that wasn’t as dysfunctional as the Raiders he would be favored in a more positive light.

He was good enough to send your team home at none and done last season.
