New Bears General Manager Ryan Poles is not done clearing the roster of expensive players he inherited from former General Manager Ryan Pace.

The next to go could be linebacker Danny Trevathan, who is expected to be released, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Cutting Trevathan will leave the Bears with an $8.9 million dead cap charge, but the Bears have likely concluded that the 32-year-old Trevathan simply isn’t going to be a contributor anymore at this point in his career.

The Bears have agreed to trade Khalil Mack to the Chargers in the biggest move of their roster purge, and other moves are likely coming. Another move on the horizon could be trading defensive tackle Eddie Goldman, who has been actively shopped, according to Biggs. And Robert Quinn, Eddie Jackson, Tarik Cohen, Jeremiah Attaochu and Nick Foles are all players who could be on the way out as well. Significant changes are coming in Chicago.

  1. The other Eddie (Jackson) needs to go, too. I can understand not wanting to play for Matt Nagy but once a player flips off the switch it’s not going to come back on. And from what I’ve heard from Eberflus, he’s going to demand a lot more of his players than Nagy did — and what Jackson seems to want to give since getting paid.

  2. Hopefully this will be the regime that brings the Bears back to their glory days. Don’t get me wrong, I want the Packers to win the division but I want them to work for it.

  3. I wonder If A-Rod return to Green Bay Packer this start the Chicago Bears In their rebuild program. This has been the talk here In Chicago for the past few days

  4. Bears are in full re-build mode. It’s going to be a tough couple of years while Poles cleans up the mess that Pace left.

  5. It’s a rebuild, the unfortunate position you’re left in when your last regime pushed bad contracts and consistently missed on first round draft picks.

  6. The Bears need to get younger and faster. It looks like Poles is on the right track to do just that. Trevathan is way to slow. Cohen is already gone. Goldman is not sure what to do day to day. Another trade I would like to see is Eddie Jackson to anyone who wants him.

  7. Trevathan should have been gone two years ago, he really has taken a step back. Eddie is awesome at nose, however he was coward sitting during the 2020 fe@r scam!

Next will be Hicks and Quinn…

  8. Eddie Goldman just has a case of lazy man’s disease, maybe some other time can ligt a fire under him.

  9. The tread is off the tires with Trevathan. Goldman doesn’t fit Eberflus’ defense, and he really hasn’t shown he is eager to play in ANY defense.

Get what you can from dealing Jackson too.

  10. The Bears need a QB coach to help Fields. They also need to follow what Detroit did and start by building a solid OL.
