The Rams are trading wide receiver Robert Woods to the Titans.

Woods was having a good season in 2021 before he tore his ACL, and he was expected to recover and stay with the Rams in 2022. But after the Rams signed receiver Allen Robinson in free agency, Woods became expendable.

The Titans apparently believe that Woods will heal up and be ready to go this season. Woods is due a $10 million base salary this season; there’s no immediate word on whether he has agreed to a new contract with the Titans.

Tennessee is reportedly sending a 2023 sixth-round pick to the Rams to acquire Woods.

Woods had spent the last five years with the Rams after playing four years before that for the Bills. Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was on the Bills’ staff in 2014 when Woods was in Buffalo, so there’s some familiarity there.

The Titans were in the market for a wide receiver after cutting Julio Jones, and Woods is their man.

  1. I thought about my Lions making this move, looked into it. Bobby Trees is getting up there in age, coming off that injury. Seems like he hit his prime fast and then fell off faster. Just to old and regressing already, then throw in the season ending injury I’m happy my team is playing it slow this year and being frugal.

  2. Quality veteran WR tears his ACL in pursuit of a Superbowl and promptly gets traded. I understand the cap issues, but seems cold.

  3. This is a bummer. Robert Woods still has plenty of gas in the tank. Trading him for a 6th round pick looks like a move to clear cap space. I wish him nothing but success and happiness playing for Tennessee. Class act on and off the field.

  4. When the best you can get is a 6th round pick that says it all. I remember back in the day when he was drafted by the Bills.

I dont know if you can get a 6th Round WR that can contribute more.

Obviously you can’t. The $10 million salary is the issue.

You looked into it? Bobby Trees? What?

Not sure what he looked into, but in the fantasy football world, Woods is commonly referred to as Bobby Trees.

  7. Woods was the league’s best blocking WR while on the Bills, who had the league’s #1 running game at the time.

  8. The NFL is a heartless business we all know that but still, that’s the cold hard face of reality there in a nutshell

“I’m happy my team is playing it slow this year and being frugal.” Really? 2021 record: 3-13-1. Enjoy slow and frugal 2022!

  10. Woods is quality. Hope he recovers from the ACL tear. Landing on the Titans isn’t a bad move.

  11. Tannesee isn’t going anywhere. Jones was done way before he went to cash that check. Woods could try and ball out for the next contract. Oh wait I forgot who their QB was.

  12. Why does it seem like 90% of the talent in the NFL is going to the AFC? Being mediocre in the NFC next year will make you a conference contender

  13. When you are tearing your ACL without contact,, is when the lions eat you. He’s been a great Ram, we’ll miss him, but it’s all over for him and OBJ. Allen Robinson is a beast!

  14. As a lifelong Rams fan this one hurts. Dude meant a lot to the franchise. Wish we could have kept him in-house! Class act and solid contributor.

  15. They won without Woods = expendable. Don’t get the boo-hoo mentality from these posters. My lord.

None of it is going to the Patriots…..in fact it has been leaving

  17. Hated when Woods left the Bills. Watched him in LA and saw him as an elite WR blocker. He could play on the special teams squad as an elite player. Sixth round draft choice. That’s a steal. He’s worth a second and third…

  18. Mentioning the Pat’s not making the move here (for a 6th) tells you everything you need to know about where they’re heading. They shot for the moon last season in free agency with both hits and misses. They’re going back to 2002 eyeing low cost/high value talent and attempting to fill the holes in the draft. Unfortunately the track record drafting quality WR’s has been abysmal but as they say…try, try again because there is talent to be had in the middle rounds.

  19. The brutal business side of the NFL. Rams fans are forever indebted to Robert Woods for his contribution to the franchise and the SB run. Thanks to a great football player and a better if not equal man off the field. It was an honor to see you wear the horns.
