Free agent left tackle Terron Armstead is on his way to Miami to visit with the Dolphins on Monday, NFL Media reports.

He is the highest-ranked available free agent left on PFT’s top 100, coming in at No. 4.

Armstead, 30, has spent his entire career in New Orleans, which made him a third-round choice in 2013.

He has played 97 games with 93 starts and has made three Pro Bowls.

Armstead missed nine games last season with elbow and knee injuries. He underwent offseason surgery on his knee on Jan. 18.

  1. You have to question who would volutarily want to play for Stephen Ross.

    This guy is damaged goods.

  2. If we don’t sign him then free agency would be considered a failure. Especially after what other teams have been doing in the AFC

Hmmm. Well have you asked Coach McDaniels why he would take a HC gig with Ross as owner? Or have you asked E. OGBAH, why he would re-sign to play for said owner? Those FAs from the Cowboys, crazy coming to Miami!

Armstead would be a immediate and substantial upgrade over any and all current tackles currently in Davie. Not just a little upgrade, a true difference maker.

  4. Dolphins G.M. Chris Grier needs to make this happen. He’s made a lot of “side portions” signings, but the team needs a main course (quoting Sun Sentinel’s Dave Hyde) deal and it has to be one of the available top free agent offensive tackles. If it gets done, it’s going to be for a ridiculous amount of guaranteed money.

  5. Hopefully the contract has some injury protection written is as th S guy has missed a lot of games lately. Definite upgrade, but has to be available on game day.

  6. Bears have a serious need at LT. Chicago has 28+mil in cap space with no splash pick-up yet. Might be time for Poles to spend some money. Justin Fields needs some help and Armstead would be a great addition.

  7. This dude can’t stay on the field. Great player, great leader, but you can’t depend on him to play from one week to the next.

  8. Well the day came and went like so many Dolphins free agent visits in the past with top talent and no signing. I’m not sure what it’s going to take for Miami to start with its biggest need first ever, but year after year they can’t figure that out. Why are spending money on Running backs we could draft them and our o-line is so week.
