Leonard Fournette visiting Patriots

Free agent running back Leonard Fournette will be in New England today.

Fournette is visiting the Patriots, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The Patriots like the running backs they have in Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson, James White and Ty Montgomery, so it seems unlikely that they’d offer Fournette a big contract. But Fournette may be starting to think a big contract won’t be coming his way from any team.

Fournette has played three seasons in Jacksonville and two in Tampa Bay. Last year Fournette had 180 carries for 812 yards and eight touchdowns, plus 69 catches for 454 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

  1. Why? RB seems to be the one position at which the Patriots are looking good. CB, not so much

  2. This screams BB. Old RB with a little tread left.
Bill also knows Tom loved Fournette, so he’s a NE type of guy.

  3. I don’t get this. Are the Bucs not offering him a contract? Hard to believe the Patriots would offer him more than the Bucs. But hey, if it works out, it could be fun. It seems like BB is working on changing offensive scheme for 2022.

  4. What stands out for me as value for the Patriots is the 69 catches out of the backfield.

  5. Id love to add him to the RB stable for both his versatility & depth…. It’s a LONG season & DEPTH is huge at a position that takes a major pounding over the course of the season…. Hope we land him but if not, wish him luck unless we face him!!
    Go Pats!!

  6. Word is he’s wanting a lot more money than the Bucs are willing to pay. So he’s testing the market.

  7. If Fournette is looking for more money in Foxboro, his visit will be short and sweet. They can’t afford him.
