Eight teams have no first-round pick, six teams have two, Eagles have three

With more than a month to go before the 2022 NFL draft, nine of the 32 first-round picks have already changed hands.

And one pick has already changed hands twice, as of today, when the Dolphins sent the 29th overall pick to Kansas City as part of the package they shipped to the Chiefs in exchange for Tyreek Hill. That pick had already been traded, from the 49ers to the Dolphins, as part of the deal that allowed the 49ers to move up in last year’s draft and select Trey Lance.

As a result of all these trades, eight teams don’t have a first-round draft pick next month: The Bears, Broncos, Browns, Dolphins, Colts, Raiders, 49ers and Rams. The Dolphins and Raiders traded their picks to acquire wide receivers, while the other six teams traded their picks to acquire quarterbacks.

Six teams have two first-round picks: The Giants, Jets, Texans, Packers, Chiefs and Lions. The Eagles have three first-round picks.

With a month to go before the draft, there’s plenty of time for more first-round picks to be traded. By the time the draft actually happens, most teams may not be using their original first-round pick.

  1. And the Eagles shall “whelm” everyone with their picks…

  2. Copycat league. Teams saw the Rams trade away picks for established players and turn it into a SB ring.

  3. please howie don’t mess this up…i will say last year wasn’t bad devonta and landon look like nice

  4. That’s what happens when the draft is not strong in QB’s, more people are willing to let their 1st rounds go and take a shot at a proven option. They can always try drafting a QB in next year’s class if it is better.

  5. I like what the Dolphins did. They had a #29 in the First. This is nothing compared to having easily the fastest Offense in the NFL. Hill and Waddle and Parker. Gesicki is now the slowpoke of the team at 6’6″ running a 4.54 and even that is top 4 at TE in the NFL (Pitts, Waller, Kittle).

    Im still surprised the colts got a proven QB for only a 3rd rounder.

    He’s not the player he was

  7. Howie did a nice job last year. Hopefully that carries over. He’s got lots of roster holes to fill. No need to make a splash. Just keep taking best available guys at positions of need.

    ++++++++++++++++

    That all depends on which Ryan shows up this season because his career is like a roller-coaster:

    TD INT
    2015 21 16
    2016 38 7
    2017 20 12
    2018 35 7

    ________

    They got the last piece or two, but the Rams were in the SB a couple years ago.

    Teams are moving players so they can get something for them if they aren’t going to sign them long term. Do you think the Phins are getting that last player to put them over the top with Hill to get the to a Superbowl? Teams in AFC west are trying at least make it difficult for KC to win the division, of the teams that acquired marquee players via trade is most likely to make the SB. The Browns, the Broncos. the Colts?

  10. Howie Roseman is going to stun everyone. Hes going to take a diamond in the rough pick thats positioned as a mid 3rd and take him with the 2nd pick in the 1st round..

    too bad the Dolphins don’t have a quarterback to throw to them;
