The Ravens haven’t had any luck getting quarterback Lamar Jackson to talk about a new contract this offseason, but they were more successful with head coach John Harbaugh.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti announced that Harbaugh has signed a three-year extension with the team. His contract was set to expire after the 2022 season, but he is now tied to the team through 2025.

Harbaugh was hired in Baltimore ahead of the 2008 season and he has gone 137-88 over his first 14 seasons with the team. The team has advanced to the playoffs after nine of those 14 seasons and Harbaugh has gone 11-8 in the postseason. That record includes a victory over a 49ers team coached by his brother Jim in Super Bowl XLVII.

Harbaugh is the third-longest tenured head coach in the NFL behind Bill Belichick and Mike Tomlin. He’s 27th all-time in wins and can move past the likes of Tony Dungy and Marv Levy during the 2022 season.

  1. One of the very best. To have the team in contention last year in spite of the historic amount of injuries the team suffered was impressive.

  2. My question is why? He has shown zero attempts to improve the lackluster passing game, refuses to get them to sign any wide receivers who can help the team win, and has the Ravens as stagnant as they have ever been. I get that the G.M. has final say on roster, but Harbaugh has some say as well. He isn’t pushing to get real WRs. They currently have only slightly better receivers than the current Falcons. It’s like he is mailing it in.

  3. Oh no three more years of prune face whining about calls which he doesn’t get….which is all of them. Coaches his team to play dirty….

  4. Wonder if there are incentive bonuses for whining? Nobody but nobody complains as much as this guy.

  5. He’s such an all around good coach. For the organization he will never be an embarrassment. He’ll keep players on task with a winning attitude. For the players he’ll go after pre-season wins, knowing it’ll be a lifetime highlight for a lot of those guys. He’ll allow player input even if it goes against the analytics. He’s a leader.

  6. I don’t get this whiney Harbaugh thing. NFL coaches are always screaming and complaining on darn near every play that goes against them. Why is he singled out? And how do you ever hear him? All I see is his lips moving like everyone else.

That’s not close to true on their attempts to rectify their wr or their current talent level. They spent 1st round draft capital last offseason on Rashod Bateman and also brought Sammy Watkins to show they were trying to shore up the position and Bateman alone is worlds better than anything the falcons have and that’s without even bringing up Brown. That’s not saying those 2 are superstars just that your talking foolish.

  8. winners of the pre-season – and the off-season!

now sign lamar and lock in those 8-9 win years…

Love it. Next up, Lamar. 50 mil a year, you earned it.

Earned it with what….his single postseason win?

  10. Breathing a HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF.

For a second I thought they had managed to re-sign LaMar.

  11. No brainer in my opinion, and I am not a Ravens fan. Who else is available that has proven they can do a better job? And, he would be snatched up within after the 2022 season, possibly by a division or conference rival.

  12. There aren’t many sure things in this role, but Harbaugh is one of them, so it’s a great signing.

I think they do need to sign Jackson too. The problem is that he’s not worth resetting the market for, and the market has gone crazy. Watson’s getting paid worlds beyond what he’s worth, so it’s a ridiculous standard for anyone else.

It’s strange. All these QBs who haven’t really won anything, who have one playoff win. Guys like Jackson, Watson, Mayfield, Prescott. None of them really deserve to be the highest-paid QB, though Jackson has probably meant the most to his team. Josh Allen has already won two more playoff games than any of them, Mahomes 7 more playoff games. Those guys have earned it. Heck, in one season Burrow’s won two more playoff games than the guys in that first group.

With Jackson behind center, they always have the potential to win. He can get them out of any hole. Problem is that he digs a fair number of them, too. In a sane world, he’d be paid accordingly, but thanks to the Haslams we’re in bizarro world now.

  13. Actually with all the talent he has had that record is not that great. His calls he made last season costed the team from going to the playoffs.
