Free-agent safety Tyrann Mathieu may be closer to finding a new place to play.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Mathieu had a virtual visit with the Eagles on Thursday.

Mathieu, who was born in New Orleans and played his college ball at LSU, also had an in-person visit with the Saints earlier this week.

The veteran safety spent the last three seasons with the Chiefs. In 2021, he started 16 games, recording three interceptions, six passes defensed, three fumble recoveries, and a sack.

A third-round pick in the 2013 draft, Mathieu has appeared in 129 career games with 120 starts. He’s picked off 26 passes, broken up 76 passes, and made 10.0 sacks.

Mathieu played his first five seasons for Arizona before spending 2018 with Houston. He signed with Kansas City in 2019.

  1. I wish Honey Badger would come to my Bears. He’d soon whip that secondary into shape!

  2. Coincidentally, he had what seemed to be virtual appearances during the playoffs last year as well. I saw a #32 on the field, but in real life he would love been just as effective miles and miles away…: I’m hoping KC gets a real life guy to tackle opponents this year, not ones who just talk.

  3. Mr. Badger has always been one of those dudes you hear great things about but never actually see in person.

  4. I’m all in favor of him leaving the NFC West. He should look for a home in the AFC, but I’ll settle for NFC East or North.

  5. He will be playing for his 4th (fourth) team, is it just me that thinks something is up with this guy?
