Defensive tackle Ed Oliver is set to remain with the Bills through at least the 2023 season.

The Bills announced on Tuesday that they have exercised their option on Oliver’s contract for that season. Oliver was the ninth overall selection in 2019 and he will have a guaranteed salary of $10.753 million in 2023.

Oliver was a part-time starter as a rookie before moving into the starting lineup for all 38 regular season and playoff games that the Bills have played over the last two seasons. He had 41 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble to help the Bills to an AFC East title last year.

Monday is the deadline for all teams to exercise fifth-year options on their 2019 first-round selections.

  1. Sort of a Quinnen Williams type. Solid, but no one you gameplan for or have to worry about during a game.

  2. Sort of a guy who finally has premium quality lineman on either side, and will now explode in 22’

  3. This was the guy I wanted my team to take. He’s not as good as I thought he’s be, but neither is the guy we took. Both good not great.

  4. Sort of a Quinnen Williams type. Solid, but no one you gameplan for or have to worry about during a game.

Umm, he was the 9th overall pick. I fully realize it’s not #3 with Quinnen Williams level middling, but it’s not that great. Solid, but unlikely to be re-upped based on the ceiling.

He should be a centerpiece of front and he isn’t. There’s not many good draft picks by Beane on the team.

Allen, White, Milano….It’s slim pickens for homegrown talent.

    But, sure.

  8. I’ll compare Beane’s draft record w/ that of the Patriots any ol’ day.

And the proof is in the pudding. 2 games, no punts. Playoff blowout. The talent disparity between the 2 teams right now is huge.

    King Crimson, and Pats fans!

  10. Hopefully the changes to the D-line this year will help this guy shine. That 4 sack number last year was so close to being higher. There were so many plays where he was just getting a finger on the QB as he let is fly.

  11. You know the bills are in your head when you’re the first commenter on all their articles.
