The Miami Dolphins have just four total picks in the 2022 NFL Draft after acquiring WR Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs. Miami gave up its first, second, and fourth-round selections this year (along with two more future picks) to acquire Hill. As a result, the Dolphins won’t be making their first pick until Round 3 (No. 102 overall). Hill signed a big four-year extension after joining Miami.

The Dolphins started slowly last season and appeared to be one of the league’s worst teams, destined for a top-5 pick. Miami turned it around in the second half of the season, winning 8 of its final 9 games aided by a seven-game winning streak. Despite a strong second half, Miami failed to make the playoffs for the third time in as many seasons under head coach Brian Flores. The Dolphins fired Flores in January, and Flores has since filed a lawsuit alleging racial bias in hiring and support for Black head coaches in the NFL.

Much of Miami’s free-agent budget was spent on the offensive side of the ball with the additions of OT Terron Armstead, WR Cedrick Wilson, RBs Chase Edmonds, and Raheem Mostert, and applying the franchise tag to TE Mike Gesicki. With the team now committed to QB Tua Tagovailoa and a revamped offense under the guidance of new head coach Mike McDaniel, Miami can look to bolster its defense in this draft.

It’s unlikely Miami will be able to add any game-changing players with their current crop of picks, but GM Chris Grier showed they are in win-now mode and ready to contend in the AFC East.

  1. Combine those picks, the Tyreek Hill pick up this year, with the 8 picks in next year’s draft and 2 of those being #1’s and I’d say the Fins are looking good. Not to mention a #2 and 2 3rd round picks.

  2. Draft a QB! Carson Strong… Whit the speed at WR the Fin need a big arm QB that can make all the throws. It will be disappointing to have a team that is held back because of the QB play.

Why don’t we wait and see how this year plays out first before we start the Flores bs again. Having the worst O-line and shortest protection time to make reads and then run for his life, I think Tua did a lot better than most Qb’s would have done.

  4. Grier does not draft particularly well. Nice job of avoiding possible blunders by trading away your picks. Paying big bucks and a bunch of draft picks for other teams good picks isn’t a recipe for success but it sure keeps the dolphins fans happy.

  5. Skylar Thompson may be a developmental project that ends up on the practice squad when the 2022 season starts. But there is a chance that he will be a superstar with 8 superbowl wins and so pick 247 becomes the new pick 199. Let me dream. There is talk of the eagles signing carson strong as a UFA, which might mean that Reid Sinnott is released. It would be nice to bring him home.

  6. The best thing about the NFL draft is when chris simms tries to pronounce some of the player names. We love ya Chris.
