Bears play only home games in December

The Bears will not leave Chicago in December.

The Bears’ 2022 schedule features nothing but home games in December, something the team hasn’t experienced since 1964.

The Packers visit Chicago on December 4, in Week 13, and in Week 14 the Bears have their bye week. Then it’s two more home games, against the Eagles on December 18 and against the Bills on Christmas Eve. The Bears won’t play outside Chicago until their New Year’s Day game at Detroit.

The Bears’ season finale is also at home, against the Vikings, meaning Chicago gets four of its last five games at home, plus a late bye week. The Bears are playoff long shots, but if the Bears can manage to stay in NFC North contention into December, the schedule is very favorable for a surprising late-season run.

  1. Can never predict what’s going to happen, I didn’t see 2018 happening for the Bears but I really don’t see them winning more than 6 games. This is a roster turnover and learn the new schemes year. All I’m hoping for is Justin Fields taking a step in the right direction.

  2. When the NFL wants to massage the schedule to give a team an edge, the NFL massages the schedule to give a team an edge. Late in the season? Getting sore and tired? Hey – no need to squeeze into an airliner! Just keep that home cooking coming. NO QUESTION the league wants to see some playoffs for the #3 population center/TV market. Similar situation for the Bills – they want the locals to dig deep to pay a huge chunk of their new stadium.

  3. Let’s hope they win their final game of the season knocking the Vikings out of contention….again.

  4. Unfortunately for Da Bears, all of their opponents but the Vikings are teams that are used to cold weather, so maybe not such a big advantage. Plus they’re all, you know, better teams.

  5. The Bears will be a surprise this year, they already own the Vikings and Lions and have for the past 5 years.

Bears season: 10-8 – make the playoffs and loose in the wild card.

  6. Gentle reminder the Bears havent won the game after they bye week since 2013 under Marc Trestman.

So not like any of this matters.

I mean as one of the worst kept fields in the league, Soldier Field in December gives them an advantage anyway.

  8. “the schedule is very favorable for a surprising late-season run.”

Two of those three games are against the Bills and Packers.. hardly favorable matchups. And all three games are against cold weather non-dome teams.

  9. “Check out the Bears overall schedule- pretty damn easy.”

Well duh, they play the Vikings and Lions twice, each!

  10. If the Patriots, Rams, or Buccaneers played only home games during December, the comments would be full of angry statements saying the NFL rigged the schedule. But no one seems to mind the NFL rigging it for the Bears,
