Bills have no indication Jordan Poyer will miss minicamp

Safety Jordan Poyer has not been at the voluntary portions of the Bills’ offseason program, but the team expects to see him at next week’s mandatory minicamp.

General Manager Brandon Beane said at a Tuesday press conference that he has not spoken directly to Poyer in recent days, but that he has not received any indication that the safety will be absent from the minicamp. Poyer would be subject to fines from the team if he does miss any of those practice sessions and that makes it all the likelier that he’ll be at the team’s facility.

Poyer is in the final year of his current contract and he changed agents early in the offseason as part of his push to get an extension with the Bills. Head coach Sean McDermott said he thought things would work themselves out, but there’s been no sign of an imminent agreement.

Poyer has spent the last five seasons in Buffalo. He had 93 tackles, five interceptions, and three sacks en route to being named a first-team All-Pro last season.

You call it a decline, I call it understanding how to win.

You don’t have players holding out for contracts when you don’t let players get that good.

BB is the master at not letting his players get to this point.

  3. $15 mil per, guaranteed. That will torch the cap. They have about 5.6 mil available, and I’m not sure if they have signed all their rookies or not. Magic happens with the cap though. But this should cement the roster for 2022. There won’t be cash for any more additions.

Remember how the no-punts-allowed Patriots were “loaded with talent” when the season started last year?

Seeing you choke (again) as the Pats rebuilt a la the Jets of 2009/2010 is simply glorious.

I remember when Jets fans sounded just like you. Glorious delusion!

You always bring that up. I think that you are forgetting that Josh Allen is just a bit better than Mark Sanchez.

  7. Bills have given poyer 2 contracts-a 4 yr deal & a 2 yr extension. With knox, Oliver, & Edmonds coming up for free agency, hard decisions will be made. Fact is safety is not the most valued position across the nfl. But, I’ll trust Beane and McDermott to make the best decision for the bills.

  8. All I know is, if my team was laid a beating on by 30 points and the opponent scores a td every drive, I wouldn’t be on their board trashing them.

  9. Did somebody really say Josh Allen is just a bit better than Mark Sanchez? Wow…

  10. I’d dump Edmonds, Oliver and Knox before I thought about letting Poyer walk.

  11. Does understanding how to win include letting Brady walk and never forcing the other team to punt?
