Derek Carr: Josh Jacobs is someone I’m very excited for this season

Davante Adams‘ arrival in Las Vegas gives the Raiders offense a new star to work with and it gives their opponents a new focal point for their attention this season.

The attention paid to Adams should create opportunities for other members of the offense. Tight end Darren Waller and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow are often mentioned in that group and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr sees another beneficiary in the backfield.

Running back Josh Jacobs didn’t have his option for the 2023 season picked up by the team so he may not be in the long-term plans, but Carr thinks that he’ll be able to contribute to short-term success.

“Josh is someone I’m very excited for,” Carr said on NFL Network. “He’s someone who’s working extremely hard to get in the best shape that he can be in because he knows that with all these weapons, maybe he’ll have a lot of games where teams are just gonna say, ‘Well, all right, Josh, you beat us.'”

If that’s how things play out and Jacobs is able to make teams pay for paying most of their attention on other players, his contract situation should have a happy ending in Vegas or somewhere else early next year.

  1. McDaniels will bring a committee approach with him from New England. We know Josh is good but he can’t hold up all season without getting hurt. Sentiments aside it’s best to churn and burn these guys on rookie deals

  2. Didn’t he get cut for lack of production or is he the last man standing from the Mack trade value?

And try to tell me Maxx Crosby is worth anything, the guy had four sacks in one game against the Bengals 3rd and 4th string lineman…..pleeeease!

  3. Huge disappointment since being drafted, I have no clue what Carr is excited about? The Raiders have a terrible O Line and made barely any improvements because of the ridiculous Adams trade.

When healthy, JJ’s a top 5 RB in the game.

    ______

Yes, agreed…. in High School or College

  5. Bunch of idiot posters above. Carr is a legit top 11 QB (look it up, for once).
Jacobs is fine, and McD brings the committee approach which is what you need.
Smart teams do this, and dont pay big for RB. Fools like Cowboys haven’t learned this.
The NFL today is all about a variety of weapons on offense, committee of RB, a top 15 QB, and serviceable O line. The D just needs to be mid pack. All about having a top 10 offense. Again, look it up.

  6. Jacobs hasn’t lived up to the hype. He was suppose to be a 3 down back, he’s not. He can’t handle a full workload. He’s fragile.

  7. Jacobs was a RB by committee player at Alabama. Hopefully the Raider OL holds up.

  8. Jacobs is a beast, when the Raiders used him proper he was solid !! He rolls injured or not. McDaniels will make him shine.

  9. I’m thinking more along the lines of teams saying “alright, Carr, you beat us”

If I look at all the Raiders weapons, and think about New England’s offense over the years, I’d be looking for Hunter Renfroe, if he stays healthy, to have 125 or more receptions. Talk to DB’s. I haven’t seen anyone cover this guy.

  10. I love how the Raiders continue to live rent free in a bunch of haters heads. So many comments from “fans” of other teams looking for likes from other haters. I would never waste my time on a post about another team. I understand Charger “fans” because they’ve never won anything and never will win anything but Patriots “fans” cmon, get a life. Go Raiders!

  11. NOBODY will have tape that will mean anything until after the bye week!

McDaniels will flourish with a cast that’s better than he ever had in skill players at NE! Not saying Carr is better than brady either. But I have seen both play from the field label and each of them can put it in very tight windows!

I can’t wait to see what new wrinkles this josh M offense has.

ANY improvement with the D and its AFC championship game time!

  12. I love watching delusional Raider fans talk their team up.

    Chiefs 14-3
    Chargers 12-5
    Broncos 10-7
    Raiders 5-12

  13. The Raiders are going to take a huge step back this season….don’t hold your breathe.

Everyone improved in that division while the Raiders wasted their picks on WR that only had elite production because of Aaron Rodgers. Waller is overrated, the raiders have no RB or OLine and their defense and Derek Carr sucks.

Everyone can dream, but when reality sets in by week 4 or 5 don’t cry.

McDaniels won’t have any success in this joke of an organization. We have seen it time and time again, without the Patriots foundation and BB – NE’s coaches and players that move to other teams fail miserably. Recent I.E. Patricia and Quinn

This is just like you thinking Adams will have the same production with Carr as Rodgers…..LOL
