Sammy Watkins practicing at Packers camp

USA Today Sports

The Packers signed Sammy Watkins as part of their plan to fill out the wide receiver group after trading Davante Adams to the Raiders this offseason, but he wasn’t on the field for the first couple of practices in training camp this week.

Watkins was placed on the non-football injury list after reporting to camp with a hamstring injury, which left him unavailable to practice until he was activated. That activation came on Friday and Watkins closed out the week by participating in his first workout of the summer.

Watkins has dealt with injuries throughout a career that’s seen him play for the Bills, Rams, Chiefs, and Ravens since being drafted fourth overall in 2014. Good health will be vital to his chances of finding a prominent role in the Packers offense this year.

With Watkins back, the Packers are only missing second-round pick Christian Watson from the receiver group. He’s on the physically unable to perform list.

  1. If he cant get his career on track with Rodgers, its over. A disappointing career, no where to be found against the Bucs in the SB.

  4. On your toes, Cheese! You weren’t first or second on a Packers article!

  5. Well, Thank God!!!!
With all the handwringing over the last two days, with the Barneys proclaiming utter doom and gloom, I figured the entire Packer season was a complete loss.
    Whew! What a relief. 🤣

Cooper Kupp is the NFL’s #1 WR and the Rams are the defending Super Bowl Champions. Save the rest of your cheap talk until the season is over.

  8. Does anyone really think the confidence of this group of “no-names” isn’t through the roof, with Aaron Rodgers throwing them the ball? Does anyone wonder why, with this group of receivers, the Packers are still considered the fifth most likely team to win the SuperBowl, as-is?

The Vikings have the soon-to-be No.1 receiver in the league (just ask him,) and Dalvin Cook, and Danielle Hunter, and Kirk Cousins. Their odds are at No.21. Wow. Impressive.

How can that be, with a bunch of no-name receivers on the Packers?

    Class? Class? Anyone?

Division titles only seem to matter when the packers win the division. When someone else wins it it will cease to matter again. Also packers fans are the only ones claiming victory in the off-season yet they claim other fans are the ones who do it. These are some of the reasons (along with narcissistic bully liar Rodgers) the packers are the most disliked team in the nfl.

One upvote (likely your own) kind of tells a different story. You might want to do a little more homework.

How many games did Rodgers and Javon Walker play together? Rodgers didn’t do anything with Walker that was Favre.

  12. Just another over hyped WR that doesn’t quite have what it takes to be a number one.
