Josh Allen lets Bills defensive linemen hear it after they get a little too close during practice

The primary objective of any NFL team for training camp and the preseason is to survive it. Particularly at the quarterback position.

On Saturday, defensive players were getting a little too close to Bills quarterback Josh Allen for his liking, as noted by Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. Allen, as the video retweeted by Garafolo shows, made his displeasure known with a little bit of pushing and shoving.

Good for Josh Allen. Guys need to know to dial it back when they get close to the quarterback, especially when that quarterback is the preseason league MVP favorite. In a season with high hopes for the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl win, losing Allen to an overly zealous pass rusher would make the road just a little bit harder.

  1. That team is so mentally wrecked, I wouldn’t bet a dime on them to win a thing. Have they brought up then KC loss yet today?

  2. If you watch the video he actually takes off to scramble and bumps into a few defenders as he’s going through the middle. I can understand getting ticked if you’re getting hit in the pocket going through your throwing motion but when you take off up the middle you have to expect some contact. Looked like frustration on Allen’s part. Maybe it was hot, maybe he wasn’t practicing well. Either way I don’t think it was a defenders fault.

They’ll be deactivating their punter when they play New England.

Valid point. But Allen is in a red jersey for a reason. It means don’t touch him. Defensive players should know that. I don’t think Allen should be pushing/shoving as a result. But he’s right to be upset that the defenders did not vacate their position. The Bills’ season rides on Allen’s health, not on any player on defense.

  5. Yes, the Bills are better than New England So are about 15 other teams. Congrats on the big accomplishment. Hang a banner.

  6. Red jersey or not you’ve gotta have some competitive spirit in practice. He should want the defense pushing him because all it’s gonna do is make him better. I’d rather have my defenders bumping into me then having them practicing to let up. You want your defense to be better especially considering that they were responsible for your playoff loss the prior year.

  7. Buffalo’s practice defense puts up a bigger fight than the cheats in the playoffs ever could. 47-13

  8. If the Bills had beaten the Chiefs they would’ve lost the AFC Championship Game to the Bengals.

Don’t forget, tedmurph – you guaranteed that Belichick would end the Bills window this season, and that the Pats would win the division.

Of course, that was after you predicted a division win for the Pats late last season, as well as 2 blowout wins for the Pats in the last 2 match-ups.

How are the Red Sox doing, btw?

  11. I made no such guarantees or predictions, and I challenge anyone that can produce one.

The Red Sox are currently 4 games out of the wild card. How are the Bisons doing? I rarely keep track of AAA standings for AAA towns

  12. Dang, the Patriot fans are getting more defensive with each passing day. Reality sinking in?

  13. Tim Settle, DaQuan Jones, Shaq Lawson, Jordan Phillips, Von Miller and Kaiir Elam.

You add the guy’s frustrating Allen in today’s practice to the Chiefs AFCCG and there ain’t no coin toss.

I’m actually more excited about the defense this year than the offense.

The #1 ranking last year was a mirage. This year’s won’t be.

  15. Not that easy to find, tedmurph – but here ya go:

““Belichick will slam the Bills window shut next year”

  16. I guarantee I posted no such thing. brfuture, you are a liar. Prove me wrong by posting something with my name attached. Shouldn’t be that hard to find.

  17. Pats fans are losing their little minds, headed downstairs head first after being in the penthouse for so long. Even cheating won’t help them now. These guys cry more than Pete Carrol. Wait! He was their coach! You a ts where he learned it!!! Lol. No QB, no Wrs, no Dbs, no Lbs, no De’s, no OC. BB is Adam Gase without Brady.

  18. Love to see the chipyness on both sides. Glad josh stuck up for himself and glad jordan didn’t back down. Just don’t injure Josh.

Congrats on beating the Pats on ‘Super Wild Card Weekend’ Hang the banner and shine up the participation trophy Bills fans usually award themselves in the offseason. The Bills are out. When is golf season in Buffalo? July 1-July 4th? What’s JAllen’s Playoff road record? Belichick will slam the Bills window shut next year”

  20. What Pats fans are crying? Most of us know it’s a process. The Bills fans are the ones with the inferiority complex. Imagine being established over 60 years ago, and never winning anything. Now their fans talk like they’re the defending champs. Seriously, What a joke.

You just described Patriot fans from 2001. Don’t criticize what you yourself have done.

  23. Yes the Pats were at the top for a very long and unusual time according to the norm and the supposed parity of the NFL … but lousy drafting n 12 finally having enough of no good players well we know wot he did …. meanwhile the Bills have been getting better all along and no real pat or football fan is really going to be too upset should they go all the way and win because NE is simply not good enough and rebuilding thus being mediocre for a good 2-3 years more would not surprise me in the least so let the better teams in the division have their time time the sun n playoffs and lets see it the Bills can stay there and the Pats get back to being top dog meanwhile just enjoy the challenge of a rebuild and the better teams as they took the time to rebuild just as well n we all need some luck in the NFL regarding star player or important cog injuries as been a few already.

  24. The Bills have back to back AFL championship trophies, but you probably weren’t born yet, so it’s easy to say they never won anything… You’re probably are too young to remember the 4 consecutive Lamar Hunt trophies as well.

  25. I’ve been on the other side of the Pats run of domination in another sport. It would NEVER occur to me to go to a board of a team that we owned for those years to repeatedly tell them they’ll never be successful. I’d probably be excited w/ them if they ever put a contender together.

Not Pats fans, or most of them. The insecurity just runs deep there. It’s like they went through the 20th century, finally had some success and were like, “We finally get to be insufferable!”

    Boo freaking hoo!

Pats fans should cheer the Bills? Did you just really write that?

Did any Bills fans ever, and I mean ever, cheer for the Pats?

    Give me a break.

  27. “Pats fans should cheer the Bills? Did you just really write that?”
    ______________

    Um…..no. I actually didn’t.

Fortunately, anyone still reading this article & the comments can easily see that.

  28. My advice to Bills fans. Enjoy your new improved version of a football team while it lasts.

But at least win a Superbowl before becoming insufferable.

  29. I like guys that just like to play. Whenever.

That’s a double whammy on the defense. You can’t touch the guy, and then he comes at you.
