The Cowboys have flirted with Anthony Barr for weeks. They now are committing.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the Cowboys have agreed to terms with the linebacker. The Broncos also showed interest.

Barr spent his first eight seasons with the Vikings after they made him the ninth overall choice in 2014. He started 98 games, though injuries limited him to 13 appearances the past two seasons combined.

He is a four-time Pro Bowler but last made the all-star game in 2018.

The Cowboys needed some quality depth at the position, and they have it with Barr if he can stay healthy. In his career, Barr has 17.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and 39 tackles for loss.

  1. Financials being equal, I think the Vikings made a mistake letting go of Barr. He was always supposed to be a pass rusher but rarely got the opportunity. In their new 3/4 he might’ve had a chance to shine in that role.

  2. He may help the defense but running the ball more will determine their season.

  3. Two down (Zimmer and Barr,) and two to go (Cousins and Cook,) before I can even consider giving the Vikings the time of day.

  4. If this was six or seven years ago this would be a helluva signing, but this guy never plays, he’s always hurt-how did he pass the physical?

  5. Barr can be a great player, but in the last three years, he’s rarely been healthy. A great player who can’t play isn’t great.

  6. He was a very impactful player for years. Now way past his prime, frequently injured, and nowhere near as quick as he once was.

May be okay coming off the bench in a very limited role

  7. Don’t kid yourselves Dallas fans, Barr is a major impact player…..still. I was stunned to learn they let him walk.

  8. Barr passed on a better offer elsewhere because he knew the Vikings were a gravy train.

  9. Good player. Good guy. I’ll never forget that time barr told rodgers to su€k it after rodgers threw a fit directed at barr

  10. I’ll never forget Josh Allen hurdling him in Allen’s first season. This was the first “OMG, he has IT!!” moment for most Bills fans. Josh’s silhouette of him leaping over Barr is on Tshirts all over WNY!

  11. We have to relish any “glory” we can get in Minnesota. We’ll never come close to matching Green Bay’s success . . . Barr’s “interaction” with Rodgers appears to be the high point for our purple helmets.
