Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams recently went public with a plea for more opportunities on offense and they could be coming with a different team.

Albert Breer of reports that the Dolphins have had talks with other teams about a trade involving Williams. Breer adds that wideout Lynn Bowden Jr.’s name has also come up in discussions with other teams.

Williams has flashed at times over the last three seasons, but he has only played in 24 of Miami’s 49 regular season games over that span. Bowden was a 2020 third-round pick by the Raiders who was traded to the Dolphins before the start of his rookie year. He had 28 catches in 10 games and missed last season while on injured reserve.

With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, Trent Sherfield, Mohamed Sanu, and fourth-round pick Erik Ezukanma also looking for playing time at wideout, it’s no surprise that the Dolphins are seeing what they can get in return for players who might otherwise wind up on the waiver wire later this month.

  1. It is probably going to be player for player trade with a “if they make the team, we get a 6th round pick” for both teams. Lots of roster trades at this time of year. Too much depth at position swaps.

  2. Like I’ve read in many comments on here “Patriots on line one”. Preston has had his opportunities and he let them get away. I do like Bowden but he’s a hybrid of sorts. If the Patriots trade for any of these guys just wait until the fans talk them up like they’re the missing piece. LMAO

  3. Preston made some amazing plays his rookie year, especially being a UDFA. He’s just been injured a lot the past two years and it’s been a shame. The guy has talent.

  4. He’s great if you need a player who is mostly injured and is a coin flip whether he will catch a perfect pass.

  5. Preston Williams is a nice player to have on your roster, but you can’t count on him to physically be able to play. Lynn Bowden must not be having a great camp. His upside has always been the reason he’s been around, but now is the time for him to step up and he clearly has not impressed the new coaching staff.
