Tom Brady is expected to practice Monday

Word on Sunday was that quarterback Tom Brady would be back with the Buccaneers in the near future and it appears that chatter was on the mark.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the plan in Tampa is for Brady to take part in practice with the team on Monday. It would be the first time that Brady has practiced since August 11.

“Personal reasons” has been the explanation for Brady’s absence and the only added information is that those reasons do not have to do with his health or the health of any family member. Brady will field questions about his mid-August break whenever he next meets with the media, although it’s not clear if that will bring any further details to light.

The Buccaneers have said that Brady’s absence was pre-planned and head coach Todd Bowles has downplayed any worry about the missed time on multiple occasions over the last couple of weeks. Assuming all goes as planned Monday, Bowles won’t have to go back to that well in his next press conference and the Bucs will be able to fully turn their attention toward the coming season with all hands on deck.

  1. Tom Brady is expected to practice Monday

He was “expected” to practice for the last two weeks, but Drama-Queen Tommy is too good for that!

  2. Our long national nightmare is finally coming to an end. Thank God… er… Thank Tom.

  3. He had something planned with his family during his brief retirement. The Bucs allowed him to keep those plans as part of the deal of un-retiring and coming back. The Bucs should have been more transparent about that before camp to prevent all the speculation. Anyway, nothing else to see here. On to the next Tom Brady story which no doubt they will keep coming all season long.

  4. Maybe he had something come up expectantly like everyone else in the world at some point. Could have been something with a family member. I don’t understand why this has to be such a big deal.

  5. Don’t worry the media will blow this up if the Bucs start off anything less than perfect and then come February we will see Tom holding his 8th Lombardi.

  6. ….Julio Jones is looking for at least one pass caught from Tom before he retires again.

  7. Weird. I looked up “insufferable” in the dictionary and right at the top was a picture of Tom Brady.

    It’s a “big deal” because:
    1) It’s Tom Brady… and the entire media world pays attention
    2) Despite the fact that things happen and people need to be with their families, the pattern in the NFL is that players rarely miss time even with deaths in the family, or even wives giving birth.

So, a QB of his prominence and the crucial time of year for preparation missing nearly two weeks of time in camp is pretty unprecedented and very odd, and therefor got a lot of attention.

  9. I hope he practices, he needs to get better. Been riding the coattails of his teammates for too long.

  10. It’s being reported that before practice, Tom played the tape of his “Masked Singer” appearance in the quarterbacks meeting room. He’s under strict rules not to reveal the winner until the show airs.

  11. What a horrible precedent!
Now every quarterback with 22 years in the NFL and 7 Lombardi trophies is going to be demanding 10 days off in training camp.

  12. The producers for Masked Singer are pumping their fists. Their ratings are going to be through the roof next month (in spite of the fact Tom isn’t on the show–maybe)

  13. The poor guy can’t pass gas without people chiming in on it…

All I know is that my Pats didn’t miss the postseason at all since Brady became the starter with the exception of the year he was Injured. Since he left, we missed the postseason one year and embarrassed ourselves the next.

Bob Kraft has some serious regrets.

  14. Play that many seasons and something is bound to come up to where you might need to take 10 days or whatever away from work. Just because you are a super star doesn’t obligate you to have to share every personal detail with the world. I don’t care who it is.

Going 10-7 and losing to one of the better teams in the NFL in the playoffs is not an “embarrassment”….

And the only reason Brady is doing well in Tampa is because of the weapons he has…without Evans, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, and Fournette you are looking at the 2019 version of Brady…

  16. Yep. I was golfing yesterday when I saw his private jet leave the airport. It was about 1:30p. He’ll be there today.

  17. So nice for his Lordship to grace his team with his presence. I hope he doesn’t get dirty.

  18. In other news, the Masked Singer starts a new season Wednesday night on FOX. Never saw the program and will not watch but it seems awfully co-incidental. What’s next? The song was the theme from the Brady Bunch?

  19. Meanwhile, in Vegas, the Falcons’ NFC South championship odds fluctuate between
60-1 and 75-1 with every Brady news update.

When they team scores a TD every time they have the football that is the very definition of “embarrassment”

  21. Practice? We talkin bout practice? Not a not a game we talkin bout practice. We talking bout practice man.

  22. It’s quite possible that Brady was always a diva prima donna, and part of Bill B’s skill was keeping it hidden from the public, similar to the Mike Tomlin and Antonio Brown dynamic.

  23. He claimed that 90% of what he says publicly is not true. What a stupid comment that was to make. So whatever he says going forward, is he lying or telling the truth.
