The Dolphins are adding a veteran edge defender.

Miami has agreed to sign Trey Flowers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Flowers reportedly worked out for the Dolphins earlier this week.

Originally a Patriots fourth-round pick in 2015, Flowers has spent the last three seasons with the Lions. He recorded 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss, three QB hits, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in seven games last year.

The Lions released Flowers in March.

In 75 career games with 64 starts, Flowers has tallied 31.5 sacks, 37 tackles for loss, 86 QB hits, and 10 forced fumbles.

  1. I know his time in Detroit wasn’t exactly the stuff of legends but Miami is getting a great player. Wish the pats brought him back but oh well

  2. He just wanted to skip training camp. Not sure how much he actually likes playing football.

  3. This is a nice depth signing. Yes he’s coming off of a couple of injury plagued seasons but this a cheap signing with upside. Depth never hurts in this league. Seems like Miami is having no issues bringing veteran talent even with all the “racist” talk about Miami.

  4. He was great for my patriots, it just sucked when he got hurt. I hope he’s healthy and can still bring it!!!!!!

  5. Not sure how many people watch pre season.. but the Dolphins looked… SCARY… last night. If they play like that in the regular season the league is in trouble. Top to bottom, from starters to the 5th man on the depth chart, they were kicking the living chizz out of Philly last night. I haven’t seen that as a Dolphins fan… maybe ever. It was like they weren’t trying and just coasting to 48 points.

  6. Very solid addition. Damn Flowers and Melvin Ingram are backups.

Lucky for the rest of the league took one of our first rounders next year cause it was unfair that we had two. This roster is sick.

  7. The Pats usually welcome back ex players. I’m sure there is a reason why he’s not back.

  8. For what I’ve seen so far, barring no major injuries. This team looks capable of going all the way. Their first team offense and defense haven’t even played a down together with their top starters (Armstead,Jones,Howard,Ingold,Waddle, and Edmonds to name a few.) This team is going to be scary. Maybe the 70’s all over again. Oh those great childhood memories. The white handkerchiefs at the Orange Bowl,Flipper retrieving footballs, the Dolphins fight song. Let’s do it again for the faithful as I am one.

  9. I am cautiously optimistic I think this is going to be the best Dolphins year in a while. This is a great team and with the exception of the Bills, they are playing in a very weak division.

Yeah….because BB spent all the $$ on guys like Jonnu Smith

  11. With the money he got from Detroit he should be able to afford a nice home in Miami. Probably should buy Patricia a winter condo as well, just to say thanks for that contract.
