Allen Lazard listed as doubtful for Packers

Allen Lazard became the de facto No. 1 receiver for the Packers after Davante Adams‘ departure this offseason, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be in the lineup against the Vikings this weekend.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said at his Friday press conference that Lazard has been listed as doubtful to play on Sunday. Lazard has been out of practice this week with an ankle injury he picked up when he got stepped on during a practice last week.

Randall Cobb, Sammy Watkins, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Amari Rodgers, and Samori Toure are set to be the Packers receivers. Green Bay is also set to have tight end Robert Tonyan, who did not get an injury designation as he completes his comeback from a torn ACL.

Tackles David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins are both listed as questionable as they come back from knee injuries of their own.

  1. Packers have regularly won games when their #1 is not available. Forces Rodgers to spread the wealth. We’ll see Sunday whether the formula can work yet again.

  2. This first week will be a trial learning period for the young receivers. That coupled with the game being at Minnesota, this may be the only chance the vikings have to steal a win from the Packers.

  3. Dave will likely miss the game too. That’s ok. This is not our Super Bowl. It is just week 1 against a low level divisional also ran.

We are playing the long game. #14

  4. Next Man Up. Nothing has changed. They don’t call injuries the NFCN equalizer for nothing.

His game availability finally matches his abilities
    Zzzzzzzzzzzz

    He’s never played.

  6. Also in news, the Packers named their 6 Captains for the 2022 season.

    They are as follows:
    1: Aaron Rodgers
    2: Aaron Jones
    3: Mercedes Lewis
    4: Kenny Clark
    5: De’Vondre Campbell
    6: Adrian Amos

It’s a nice blend of veteran locker room leaders.
Aaron Rodgers was voted Captain by his teammates for the 12th time in his Green Bay career.
Even though the dopey Barneys always desperately try to paint this man as a poor leader and some kind of locker room pariah, for whatever reason, their narrative is patently false. Who knew? 😆
But, I guess, whatever makes their lutefisk go down easier. 😉

  7. Holy bratwurst. I’ve never even heard of any of those WRs except for Cobb. And Cobb is older than dirt.

  8. I still feel a little guilty for getting Zimmer run out of town. If the Vikings can’t even beat our backups at home, I wonder how long it will take for their bandwagon fans to turn on the new coach.

  9. It’s up to the Packer defense to hold the fort until the offense gets totally healthy and adjusted to their new and young receivers. The Queens offense is their best chance to win; punch them in the mouth with the D line and let the secondary cover their wr’s. Lazard would have been nice to have but not needed for this game if they run the ball, play action pass and the defense shows its as good as they say it is.

  10. Genuinely stunned to see that Tonyan will play. He was injured within a couple of weeks of Jenkins, and I didn’t expect to see either of them on the field before November–ACL rehab is usually a full year (and as we saw with Bakhtiari, often much more).

Here’s hoping he hasn’t rushed the recovery, and that his knee holds up. If he’s anywhere close to full strength, he adds a lethal dimension to the Packers’ offense that was sorely missed in the second half of last season.

  11. With Adams long gone and Lazard doubtful, Arrogant Aaron’s chances of winning in Minnie are doubtful as well.

  12. He’s missing their annual super bowl, poor guy.
Ya know, their most important game of the year playing in a world class stadium.
This team is a decade long choker, it’s the closest thing they have to the actual super bowl. Too bad he has to miss his fan bases’ most important game of the year against their greatest rival. Ya know, because they absolutely fall flat on their face in the playoffs when they get there for the past decade year after year, if they get there, this is as close as a super bowl gets in green bay. against their greatest and most important rival.

Allen Lizard is your #1 receiver, huh? good luck with that.

  13. Lazard scares this Vikings fan about as much as Donald Driver, and he’s long retired. What concerns me is when and if Bakhtiari and Jenkins get healthy with those two RBs — that’s where the Pack will make hay along with a stout defense. Not to mention as long as the Pack has Rodgers, they have a justifiable reason to be pompous, overconfident boors.

  14. I finally saw a picture of this guy without helmet and he doesnt exaclty look like a rocket scientist.
If this is the Packers new hope, they are in deep deep do do. Rodgers is going to find himself on his butootski often in the vikes game or he will toss the ball out of bounds.
Hey Rodgers, you get zero yards not trying to make a play. Just like the playoffs and you caving.

GB’s Doc McKenzie is as conservative as they come so he’s good to go. The Cowboys’ Gallup tore an acl in Jan and he’s not on IR. That’s the difference between a team that genuinely cares about its players and a billionaire who sees his players as a means to making more money with no concern for their long term health.

Green Bay plays the Bears NEXT week. This week they’re at lowly Minnesota.

  17. because they absolutely fall flat on their face in the playoffs when they get there for the past decade year after year, if they get there,
    +++++
Minnesota fan discussing playoff history – oblivious to the irony – never gets old.

  18. Rodgers makes all of his receivers look better than they actually are. Just wait until you see how average Davante Adams really is.

You claim not to be a Viking fan. Are you an anti-Packer fan? Not sure why else you’d be looking at pictures of Allen Lazard and feel the need to comment.

You know what concerns me about the entire Viking organization? Absolutely nothing.

Sure Jefferson and Cook will put up numbers with volume, Cousins stats will look pretty, and another 9-8 season will play itself out. And Viking fans will talk themselves….Purple.

  21. Packer fans are wailing. They consider the game against the Vikings their Super Bowl. Bud Grant was correct in coining that phrase in the 70’s, and still true today.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That’s a myth derived from four generations of Viking fan frustrations. Grant never said it. The Packers have many SuperBowl trophies, the real thing. Playing and beating the Packers is the closest any Viking fan, ever, has come to knowing what winning a SuperBowl feels like. That’s the truth of it. As bitter a pill that may be for you to swallow, unless and until the Vikings win a real SuperBowl…..….this is it.

  23. Every Packer receiver on the roster couldn’t make the Vikings practice squad according to the usual suspects, so what difference would Lazard make? Rodgers makes the most pedestrian receivers look like they’re All-Pro and nobody is better at spreading the load around to multiple players. The Vikings need to worry about the completely new 3/4 defensive scheme they’re adapting to for the first time. It is not an easy transition when you’re using mostly the same personnel.

  24. Always amusing when Packer fans try to convince us playing the Vikings isn’t their most important games of the year. Of course it is. It’s why you’re constantly trying to defend yourselves on every Vikings article. It’s why, when the article is about your WR, you still only talk about the Vikings. It’s why you create fake names pretending to be Vikings fans.

    //////
We know you like to lie, so let’s ignore this first sentence. Now, about spreading the ball around. We know Jones had like 10 receptions for a hundred yards in the playoffs. We know your WR group didn’t. And we know your QB didn’t think playing with the new guys was important all preseason. I suspect exactly zero WR’s on this roster are all pro. And the Vikes D? Take another look. Some new guys. You might even recognize one of them.

  26. The Packers definitely have some big games this year.
The Bucs in a couple of weeks, Bills, Rams, Cowboys and Eagles will all be very important in their quest for their 14th.

As always, the two Bear weeks are just as important for a very different reason.
They are our longstanding rivals and it’s for overall bragging rights. Bragging rights that have transcended generations.

Sorry Barneys, though all divisional games are “must wins” to a degree, this week 1 matchup just doesn’t register on the overall Richter Scale.
Especially when you consider that the Vikings aren’t even going to factor into the standings by the time I start my Christmas shopping. 🤣
No matter how much you want it to be so. 😉

  27. Packer fan gets triggered when Bud Grants quote is brought up. When the packers play the Vikings, “it’s the packers Super Bowl”

  28. The Cowboys’ Gallup tore an acl in Jan and he’s not on IR. That’s the difference between a team that genuinely cares about its players and a billionaire who sees his players as a means to making more money with no concern for their long term health.
    ____
Gallup is currently on the physically unable to perform list and it’s not surprising he won’t be ready for Week 1

The lies Packer fans tell themselves to make themselves feel special and better about their team. This Gallup lie ranks right up there with we don’t have an owner who uses public tax money to fund our stadium

  29. Packer fans like to pretend playing the packers is the vikings super bowl. Yet despite going one and done again last year all they did all offseason was brag about winning the division and finishing 6 games ahead of minnesota. That so cheese eater

  30. I can’t even remember the last time the Packers went one and done in the postseason. It’s been awhile. You certainly can’t say the first place bye isn’t earned. There goes your one and done.

  31. No, cheesy fat guy, Packer fans bring up winning the division by such a huge margin in response to the constant chest thumping you Barneys do about winning free agency, winning the draft, winning the offseason.
    Every single year.

It’s hilarious how much you guys delude yourselves into thinking anything is going to really change in a single year.
Especially because your major problems stem from the top down at the franchise level.
And even funnier still when you all stand around with that stupid look on your collective faces when you finally realize your season is lost. Again! 🤣
But hey, thanks for playing. 0-62!!!

  32. The Cowboys’ Gallup tore an acl in Jan and he’s not on IR. That’s the difference between a team that genuinely cares about its players and a billionaire who sees his players as a means to making more money with no concern for their long term health.
    ___
Packer players taking long to come back from an acl injury must be because the Packer team doctors are the best of the best of the best and if any player on another team comes back from the same injury sooner it has to because of that team’s evil billionaire owner. Yet another fantasy just saying the Packer game is the Viking super bowl. Feel better?

    _______________________________

It’s because the whole premise is absurd. The team with 4 Super Bowl wins, the very Super Bowl trophy itself is named after one of their coaches and who routinely dominates the NFCN every year, would consider playing a team that has NEVER won a Super Bowl, to be their yearly “Super Bowl”. It’s delusional really.
