The two oldest starting quarterbacks in the NFL will face off in Tampa this weekend and that leads to questions about how much longer Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will be fixtures in the NFL.

Brady is 45 and Rodgers said over the summer that he won’t be playing until he’s that old, but the Packers’ trip to face the Buccaneers means that he faced questions about his longevity again on Wednesday. Rodgers noted that you try to stay as long as you can “when you’ve achieved at a high level for a long time,” but said he still thinks he’ll be on to something else before he reaches his 45th birthday.

“I won’t be, I’ll be doing something else,” Rodgers said, via Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal. “I have a lot of other interests outside the game. Game’s been really, really good to me. I feel I’ve given my all to the game. At some point, it’ll be time to do something else, and I strongly believe that’ll be before 45.”

Sunday’s game will be the fifth time the two quarterbacks have faced off as starters and it could be the final time given the uncertain futures of both players. Rodgers said he didn’t feel particularly nostalgic about that prospect, but there will likely be more than a few fans savoring the chance to see the two players on the same field one more time.

  1. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t love playing football. Playing football is a job to Rodgers, he does it well and it’s a good paying gig… but, he has always acted like he’s never enjoyed it or had a real passion for the game.

  2. Aaron Brett Favre Rodgers is never going to another Superbowl. His record is practically identical to the guy he replaced, but the biggest difference between Favre and Rodgers is Favre was a likable guy, and Aaron is an insufferable snob who’s in love with himself.

  3. I pray that Brady and the Bucs embarrass Mr. Egotistical. I also hope that Rodgers get sacked so many times he has to change his jersey at halftime because you can’t see his number. Rodgers may have talent but his personality is pure poison!

  4. please go soon. for someone who was so worried about being allergic to the vaccine, you had has no worries about downing some hallucogenic tea from plants whose harvest preparation and content were completely sketchy and whose effects vary from person to person. i was in peru long ago, and although i have experience with hallucinogens, didn’t consider ayahuasca or the san pedro cactus.

  5. I firmly believe that the last regular season meeting that the Pack stunk the place out – was because AR was more consumed with the publicity around these 2 GOATS than it was about the game. It didnt help that Adams was just coming back off of an injury and a couple of passes got deflected and intercepted – but basically everything was off and it started with 12.

  6. Always one piece away.

Maybe they’ll be fortunate enough to find it before their HOF QB is through.

  7. You can say a lot about Rodgers. Some good, some bad. I think it’s crazy that he’s been in the league 17 years (13 or so as a starter) and he has yet to throw 100 interceptions.

  8. I pray that Brady and the Bucs embarrass Mr. Egotistical.

    The biggest difference was turnovers.

Favre literally gave games away. Not just regular season games against the hapless Lions and Bears. Title opportunities.

  10. So far this year A-Rod looks like a guy who’s playing his last season in the league, but there is no way he retires the same year as Tom Brady because he wont want to share the spotlight at their 1st ballot HoF induction. So long next year A-Rod! It’s been a good run!

If he’s as big an ego maniac as people say, he won’t care who he goes in with.

They’ll be going in with HIM.

  12. I feel I’ve given my all to the game.

By ‘all’ of courrse he means all excpet attending OTAs and extra time to help get in sync with young players

  13. Aaron Rodgers has a losing record against teams that finish the season with a winning record. the greats like brady have winning records against teams that finish the season with a winning record. one is a lying in love with himself front runner. the other is not.

  14. I could care less about Brady v Rodgers, what interests me is how the Pack offense will fare against a very good Bucs defense and if an underperforming Pack defense gets healthy against a very depleted Bucs offense. The Pack is lucky with the timing of this game.

  15. No team will tolerate a guy in his 40’s that chokes in big games like Ewwin Wawgers does.

Half the teams in the League need a QB.

Half the teams in the League wish they could get to the Conference Title round to choke.
