Justin Tucker‘s game-winning field goal on Sunday night couldn’t have been more perfect.

Tucker, the Ravens’ kicker who nailed a 43-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Bengals, kicked the ball so dead-center that at the time it went over the crossbar, it was almost perfectly between the two uprights.

According to Michael Lopez of the NFL’s Data & Analytics department, the league’s Next Gen Stats ball tracking data shows that the kick would have still been good if the uprights were only 18 inches apart.

This is nothing new for Tucker: The league’s ball-tracking technology has long shown that he kicks his field goals closer to the center of the uprights than any other kicker in the NFL. Tucker owns the all-time NFL record for field goal accuracy, having made 91.3 percent of his career field goal attempts, and the advanced stats show that he doesn’t just make his kicks, he makes them perfect.

  1. Wake me when he wins SBs or kicks balls in blizzards or rain storms or throws a TD. The guy kicks in perfect conditions all the time.

The disrespect for Vinatieri, the kicker that will be going into the HOF with 4 SB rings, is stunning.

The jealousy is something that has never been seen in sports. Tucker is fantastic and the best kicker in the NFL, but let’s stop acting like Vinatieri’s legendary status doesn’t exist.

Unbelievable how Baltimore is constantly pimping their players every year like the little puppy pulling at your pant leg.

  2. It takes fewer words, and is just as accurate, to say the the kick was “right down the middle”

  3. All this technology yet the uprights aren’t high enough so refs are guessing whether an extra point was inside or outside.

  4. Tucker is the best kicker I’ve seen since Vinatieri. All it will take for Tucker to surpass him is a bunch of playoff wins when he’s the final winning play.

  5. “Wake me when he wins SBs or kicks balls in blizzards or rain storms or throws a TD. The guy kicks in perfect conditions all the time.”

Vinatieri played 13 seasons in a dome as a Colt. Tucker has played in a dome only a handful of games in his career in comparison. Vinatieri is amazing, but he wasn’t as good as Tucker.
