Dak Prescott is “antsy as f–k” to play again

On Sunday night, the 4-1 Cowboys likely will face the 5-0 Eagles without franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. It will be the fifth game Prescott has missed due to a broken bone above his thumb, which required surgery.

So how antsy is Prescott to play again? He was asked that question on Wednesday by Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Antsy as fuck,” Prescott said. “But excited that my guys are doing what they got to do.”

Hill also asked Prescott whether he’s content to wait another week to play.

Whatever is best for the team,” Prescott said, before referring to the broken ankle he suffered two years ago yesterday. “I would play on one leg. I would have straightened my leg back out and played. I understand the process. The week can be frustrating. Game day, Excited for my brothers. Do my part supporting.”

The Cowboys and Dak will be better off if they wait until he’s 100 percent. It’s still unclear when that will be. With winnable games coming up (Bears, Lions) before the Week Nine bye, why not wait until Week 10, at Green Bay?

They should be at least 6-2 at that point. They could be 7-1. If they can beat the Eagles on Sunday night, there’s no reason to play Prescott until he’s truly and completely healed.

  1. They’re getting a better outcome with Rush, who they’re paying all of $1 million this year, than with their $20m/yr, $160m contract “franchise QB”. And the fans seem more excited than they have been in years.

Really makes you think about what all this money is for, and how much of it ends up being for little to nothing.

  2. Jerry told him he was starting 4 weeks ago and McCarthy keeps telling him the doctors haven’t cleared him. No wonder he is antsy.

  3. Dak will be so antsy that he will return & try to do too much as usual. Cowboys are better off with Cooper Rush as qb and that stifling defense.

  4. About 25 years ago KC had a guy named Elvis Grbac, supposed great QB who got injured and and some no-named Rich Gannon guy came in for several games…. Gannon took KC to the playoffs, their GM switched back to Grbac, because he was “their” guy, KC lost the game, and Gannon… He went to Oakland where he took them to the super bowl a few years later. Be Careful Jerry, or maybe the fans should be careful of Jerry…

Well sure now that Cooper has showed him how to win games…

Lol. Yeah Rush is showing him how to pray the defense wins the game for you.

  6. Many Dallas fans don’t care if Dak comes back because Rush is a perfect game manager for this team as they can rely on the best defense the NFL has seen in decades.

  7. It’s funny how people are over rating the heck out of that defense The stats and the numbers don’t lie lol

Yes, Cooper Rush hasn’t been Pat Mahomes. But he’s not asked to be. He’s not getting play calls from Andy Reid that make TDs easy in the red zone. He doesn’t have the best TE in the league to throw to. He hasn’t even had an healthy WR core most of this time. But he’s 5-0. So by not doing anything to lose games, he’s essentially doing what’s ask of him to win games.

Alex Smith was 99-67 in his career, Brad Johnson was 72-53. All that mattered… he found a way to stick to the script and win games. Cooper Rush was on waivers 6 weeks ago. Now he’s considered one of the best backups in the league. The thing about game manager QBs, you don’t know how much they can help your team until you put them on the field on Sunday.

  9. The more Cooper wins the less likely you’ll get the chance. If he beats Philthy, you can sit on the bench and count to 15 over and over so you’ll remember what to do.
