The NFL’s first game in Germany appeared to be a success for the league, with a large crowd of enthusiastic fans. It was certainly a success for the Buccaneers.

The Bucs got off to a great start and then held on through a thrilling fourth quarter to beat the Seahawks 21-16.

The win improves the Bucs to 5-5 and cements their status as the clear leaders in the NFC South. The Seahawks fall to 6-4, and although they remain in first place in the NFC West, this loss hurts.

Both teams had significant injuries late in the game, with Tampa Bay’s Leonard Fournette and Seattle’s Jordan Brooks both exiting the game in the fourth quarter. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Both quarterbacks played well but also had some notable mistakes. Tom Brady completed 22 of 29 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns, but he also had an ugly fourth-quarter interception that let the Seahawks back into a game the Bucs had been controlling throughout. Geno Smith completed 23 of 33 passes for 275 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, but he did take three sacks and lose a costly fumble.

Seattle and Tampa Bay may both be hosting playoff games in January. They may even meet again in the postseason, and it would be good to see a game as entertaining as this one.

  1. Well…that performance should squelch the “Geno for MVP” talk. Pete Carroll is no genius & he’s been fortunate with that weak early part of their schedule – let’s see how Seattle fairs the rest of this season.

  2. The first game I’ve seen this year where the Bucs offensive line looked good. Brady despite the goofy trick play looked a lot better than he has been that throw to Evans in the first was ridiculous. Bucs defense made Geno Smith look average with constant clogging up of the running lanes which stopped Walker and the play action game for the Seahawks. Germany got a good game on their first try oof sucks to be British I guess.

  3. I feel bad for Seattle fans.

They should have had a true dynasty. But just got the one championship.

It’s great to win the one. But the dismay and Despair must be tough to deal with on trying to figure out how the dynasty got away from them.

  4. Not about the game but the broadcast. Audio was awful.
About the game – field conditions were awful.

  5. Ride’s over, Seattle. Back to the cellar from this point.

    That division is trash.

Seattle has as good a shot as anyone.

  6. Maybe Geno shouldn’t have worn a wristband? Maybe he should’ve done high knees on the flight over? Either way, he doesn’t travel as well as Russ.

  7. I loved it in the 2019 playoffs when the Packers earned the game ending 1st down and Pete Carroll threw a tantrum like a toddler whose mom wouldn’t buy him a treat at the store.

  8. Brady looked good – he was dropping dimes until that silly trick play. Good game – enjoyed it.

  9. Seahawks lines were dominated and the game plan was lousy.

Why they didn’t start using the tight ends until the second half?

They should be in that three tight end set about 70% of the time.

    Horrible.

  10. Otto Graham has 7 rings, I guess he is the GOAT.

Brady is GOAT because football is TEAM sport, and Brady is the ONLY PLAYER in NFL history who made jobs easier for coach and GM to build a SB contender due to his ability of turning cheap slot receivers into top play makers.

  11. Top play makers? LOL. What year was either Edelman or Welker a top receiver in the league?

Do you realize that you are claiming that Brady is even greater than I think?

No, you did. The only top play makers on offense were Gronk and Moss and Brady didn’t make them.

Walker was the receptions leader 3 times while in NE. Care to take a guess who te QB was?

Welker wasn’t cheap. Belichick traded a 2nd for him, then immediately signed him to a 5-year extension.

Moss and Gronk are HOFrs. If the football writers choose to honor specialists, Welker could get in. Being that he perfected a position, he SHOULD be in. Go find a HOF QB that played with 3 HOFrs on offense.

Mankins has as good a resume as any G of his era. That would be 4.

Wish my QB had ‘trash’ teammates like this……

  16. Seattle’s line’s got beat up on both sides of the ball and Pete didn’t adjust the game plan to offset that until the 2nd half when they were down 2 scores. It felt like the playoff game against the Cowboys a few years back where Pete just refused to go away from the run even though it clearly wasn’t working. Geno’s fumble in the red zone was the back breaker. Not a great game from Geno, Waldron, and the defense was pretty bad, too. Credit Brady for dropping some dimes to receivers who were well covered.

  17. As far as the field conditions. Both teams played on the same surface and it seems like I can only find complaints from the Seahawks. The pitch is built and designed for soccer. Flat out it is designed for a bunch of guys that would be called undersized WRs. The heaviest guy is 6’4 205lbs the smallest guy is 5’9″ 152. That are spaced out all over the field.

With the prevalence of artificial turf fields the cleat of choice has changed. You used to see guys wearing detachable cleats on grass. For whatever reason molded cleats have become almost the norm.

    He’ll be just fine.
